Unfortunately, just read that the Disney Dream won't visit CC on the 3 nighter!:surfweb::surfweb:

I guess the Captain didn't deem it safe!:scared1: Full confidence that the Captain will keep the passengers and crew safe!:goodvibes

Best of luck and safety during Irene!

Hope that CC remains "A PIECE OF PARADISE"!:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:
HOPE CC IS SPARED WITH THE DESTRUCTION OF IRENE!:scared1:

Be safe, Disney Crew and Passengers!:woohoo:

This is not a surprize....in addition to the island itself........the Master is going to want to hear from the maintence CM's that they have checked out the dock and mooring gear and more important they have checked/sounded the slip to make sure it has not sanded in.

AKK

I need info as well and can't find anything less than two days old. I would think by now there would be something on the web about its condition. I would think DCL would have a small blurb about it just to reassure us. I know they are probably still accessing damage(if any) but a little something would be nice.....smjj

I would love info as well we are on the dream tomorrow!!:confused3
But either way would still be ok.:rotfl:

As was mentioned in another hurricane thread, Disney is a master of information control. We will hear something when they are ready to say something, especially when it deals with an island that the general public doesn't have regular access to unless DCL allows it. The only ones with any knowledge at this point are DCL higher ups, those who are on the island doing damage assessment/ clean up and probably the officers on the Dream. None of whom are likely to talk out of turn.

We will have to be patient.

One of the cruisers on the Dream said they were not able to make it to CC today as they are still inspecting the island. Hopefully all is well.

My thoughts exactly. :thumbsup2

We still have 3 weeks until our cruise so I feel pretty safe in saying we should be OK and CC should be up and running...smjj

The Dream according to MSNBC will not stop on Castaway Cay on Aug. 27. That has been the only information that I have been able to find. In fact, that was why I came to DISboards. I was hoping to find out how Castaway Cay had done. Cruise Critic had info on every island but Disney's, MSNBC had a one line statement. Good luck.

This thread has reports from a poster currently on the Dream and is the best info we have at the moment. It is a bit early for any meaningful information.

I am on the Dream Now. We went to Nassau today instead of CC. Asked around - evidently heavy damage, heavy equipment being moved in now. (Bulldozers specifically mentioned.) Roofs blown off some bars. DCL told me it would be unavailable for a couple cruises at least.

Sounds like it may be at least 3-4 weeks before Castaway Cay is back in service. Hopefully, damage is not bad as what we have heard

Thanks for taking the time to keep us updated. I hope you have the best cruise possible!

just read on another thread that they had some heavy damage and DCL is sending in a full crew including bulldozers to clean up. I'm sure there is lots of sand to move back where it belongs. They said Cookies II had some damage.

So sad to hear this! We sail on 9/11 and this will be a first cruise my inlaws and a first disney cruise for our friends. The thing everyone is most looking forward to is Castaway Cay! Oh well! Atleast we will get to enjoy the new beautiful ship!

Here is to hoping they can get the island back and running sooner than later! We are bracing for Irene. Hoping there is not much damage here in Maryland!

I remember years ago after a hurricane there, I think beach erosion and landscaping damage were major issues and evident for quite some time, but haven't heard anything of the severity of this one. Hoping for the best and a quick recovery for the island.

If the roofs blew off some bars, I am curious as to how the private beach cabanas held up. Of those who have had one, what do you think? Could they withstand a hurricane?

we are on the same cruise and live in Owings Mills! Mike 30 and DW Katie 27

If anyone has word on Casey the cat, please post! Worried about that sweet kitty.

We are scheduled to be at Castaway Cay on September 17th (Dream). Sure hope the island is open - it's the reason we booked a September cruise since the water is still really warm. Oh well - guess we will find out eventually.
