As you can see from my ticker, there's 111 days til my trip. Without boring EVERYONE with specifics, i have suffered from ME/CFS for almost 6 years now.

Is there anyone else here that is going, or has been to WDW with this illness?

I would have posted this on the Disabilities forum, but i especially interested in it from a UK point of view with the long flights and time difference.

I understand if others don't want to share specifics on a public board, but if you have some tips or advice, i'd be very grateful if you could PM me!

I'm interested in finding out how you coped with the long flights, the time difference, alterations to sleeping patterns, how much you could do at the parks, if there's anything special you couldn't do, and most importantly; given the illness and your experience, would you do it all over again!

Thanks,
:woohoo:

Hi

I hope someone can answer your question here. I think it must be hard when adapting having this illness. I would imagine with some prep and rest on your first arrival and plenty of rest days in between parks you should be ok.

I get really tired in FL. Thats mainly because we do not have rest days. My dh would have a fit if I put in rest days. He has much more energy than me. I would suggest regular drinks throughout the day, rest stops, dont eat to much in one meal and have some rest days planned. The arrival day maybe hard when adapting to new times, but either try to prep before you go or just have a lazy day around the pool and enjoy some shopping.

You will love it.

Hi
My sister has this condition so I can sympathise with your phlight.

She hasn't been to WDW so I can't offer any first hand advice. I do know that when she goes on holiday she tries make her plans as flexible as possible, since she never can tell in advance how she will be feeling on any particular day.

One thing I did think about was, that since the Parks are very large and spread, out I would not hesitate to hire an electric scooter, or ECV, as they are known (from the Park Guest Relations) to travel around on...there is no need to feel as though you shouldn't, as you will find that this is the preferred method of getting about in the Parks of some guests that have absolutely no disability at all... but just do not like walking ! You will also find scooter users have a priority line that will avoid you and your guests having to wait in hot lengthy queues, which I know would be a problem for my sister.

Hope this is of some help.

Thank you both for your replies.

I haven't planned anything specific for any days (apart from one ADR and the Segway Tour!), so that I am free to take rest days whenever I need too.

I have been trying to raise my endurance in the gym, as I am pretty stubborn about getting an ECV! I wouldn't hesitate to get one if getting around was going to cause a problem, but I am keen to see how I do without one.

The first day shouldn't be that much of a problem - our flight should land at about 3:40pm, it works out pretty well for just grabbing some food once we've checked in and crashing out for the night, with an extra 5 hours sleep which should solve the time difference problem as well.

Angel, I will be sure to take in proper rest breaks throughout the day with proper food and liquid. We plan to hit a park in the morning (being there for rope drop), either staying for lunch, or lunching back at the hotel with a few hours R&R time. Then we're planning to go back to another park late afternoon/early evening for fireworks etc.

Pass my best wishes onto your sister please jdybnsn!
