I've normally filed my taxes by now but I kept waiting for this one 1099, which never came, so now I finally have the info and wanted to file tonight. But, the cost is higher on every site I go than it was a month ago. Did I miss the discounts? I'm filing deluxe. Thanks!

ETA: Deluxe was $39.99 a month ago...now it's $49.99. I remember when I could file for $19.99 with the deluxe.

Do you need to use the deluxe version? If so, check Sam's club, costco, and other warehouse locations. They have been on sale for 39.99.

Don't I have to if I am itemizing? I also use the online. I've honestly never used the cd...scared of change!

My credit union offered a discount--I don't know if a regular bank would. So does swagbucks if you're a member.

I use tax hawk and it’s free and I do a complicated return with many forms!
Same here. I switched from TaxAct to Tax Hawk last year. I do pay for my state return but it's < $10. And it imported my previous returns somehow so I had no issues with switching.

I've always had the $15 or $20 off deluxe through my banks in the past. Nothing this year. I don't see any SB coupon. Only the opportunity to earn SB's on the purchase, which I plan to do but I still want a discounted price :)

Hm--you're right, I don't see it anymore. It was for $10 off I think. I didn't end up using it (though I did get the 50 swagbucks on top of my credit union discount) but I think it appeared within turbotax when I clicked on the shop button and then logged in. But it was a few weeks ago, so they may have done away with it.

I use Turbo Tax and received a discount from them when I signed on but even more important I went through Rapid Reward Shopping (through Southwest Airline), chose Turbo Tax and after all was said and done I received 1000 points on my Southwest Account.

I keep forgetting about RR shopping. I need to start using that!

Supposedly no, unless you have charitable deductions that you need Turbo Tax to calculate the fair market value (donations of goods/items to Salvation Army, Goodwill, that sort of thing). Otherwise, Turbo Tax supposedly has free online filing for the non-complicated ones. There's also the H&R Block Zero (?) that says it's free too.

For the state, you might look to see whether your own state has free filing. I discovered that a few years ago in an article i read in the newspaper. So, instead of paying Turbo Tax $20 to e-file my state taxes, I just input the data on the state's website and e-file for free, so all I do is pay the $43 ($39.99 + tax) for the CD version I get at a warehouse store.

Do you have a discover card? I found a 10 off coupon on their site, got the deluxe for 39.99. I stick with Turbo Tax cause it has all my info and cost basis for roth ira's. I figure in the future that will come in handy, so they got me, I'll pay forever.

Interesting. I thought I had to do deluxe since I itemize. We do have a lot of medical that I write off so not sure if that makes us 'complicated'. My state is free so I always just file through them separately.

I really want to use TT cause I've used them for 10+ years and changing everything over to another company feels very daunting right now. Maybe I'll look into once of the free ones for next year. Thanks.

I like using TT also. It's just comfortable and easy. I don't have a discover card. I was seeing the deluxe for $39.99 a lot of places as of last week. Not anymore.

I am not a Fidelity customer but read you can go through their link and save money. https://www.fidelity.com/tax-information/turbotax-discount/overview

I went through that link - logged in and the discount was applied. It's up to $20 but on my version of Turbotax it saved $10 (I paid $29.99). They I logged out and went back into Turbotax through the Southwest RR link so I got the Fidelity discount and 1,000 RR points. Good Luck!

Did you get the AmEx offer? It's $10 off deluxe but the terms make it seem like you have to go through their link to get it. So not sure if that helps if you were looking to stack.

I did get the amex offer but last year, I was able to stack that with another discount. I did notice it seems like they want you to click through the amex link this year. I added the offer but hoping to still get another discount lol :)

I tried this link. Seems like everyone took off the better coupon that was there before but $10 off is better than nothing :) Thanks! I paid $49.99 for the deluxe.
