we have a corolla S with only 75 miles on it. Havent taken it out only once. SO anyone else with issues.

our son and his wife have a Rav4 and they got theirs three weeks ago and they are in the same boat......wait and see when and what they will do to the vehicles......

But we are confident in Toyota and them taking care of the problems

Sounds like we are ok. We bought a Hybrid Highlander last last year and I think they are only recalling 2010 models. The news said if your serial number starts with JT it is ok. Ours does. Phew! I wish all pixie dust that it does involve.

We went to our toyota dealership today because we own a 2007 Camry and we were told that at least here in Valencia, the new replacement parts have already been ordered an dthat as soon as they come in we will be getting letters in the mail to make an appointment to have the parts replaced.

Sounds like they're making progress at least where we live

We bought a 2007 Camry last month. The web site says "certain 2007-2010 Camrys", so I don't know if we fall in that or not. Will be checking.

So when these accelerators stick, can the car not just be put into neutral? I've heard the brakes won't stop it, but I just wonder if it can be taken out of gear or not.

I picked up a 2010 Rav4 last Saturday. My mother also has a 2006 Avalon that's been recalled. And my grandmother has a 2009 Corolla that's included. I love Toyota though, and they'll take care of it.

As more information comes out on these recalls, Toyotas true colors are showing. The US government had to go to Japan to convince them they need to do the recall in the first place. This was not a voluntary effort by Toyota so I don't beleive their apology was too sincere. Now there is an investigation going on that it might be an electrical problem causing some throttle sticking issues. To top it all off there are reports of brake failures on thier prius model.

We have 2 Toyotas and neither are included in the recall- 09 Highlander with VIN starting with a J and a Solara.

I have had my Solara for almost 3 years and have never experienced any type of braking or accelerating issue. We have had the Highlander almost 1 year and haven't had any issues either. Both cars have just over 20,000 miles on them.

The thing that scares me is a week ago Toyota said they had no clue what the problem was. Now a week later they found the proble and have fix going out to the dealers. Either they knew about the problem long before they admitted it or they have come up with a quick fix to please everyone. Loved it when they said they had no desire to be the #1 car company in the world only to make safe cars. BS!!!!! Their desire was to be #1 at any cost and are now paying the price.

I guess we will wait for the parts....I am not worried about the vehicle though....Our problems with our last two trucks...one was a ford ranger and this one is a chevy silverado......both of them had electrical issues.....lights going on and off .....air bags lights saying it is going to GO OFF......our lights still say our engine is over heating......so issues are for all types of vehicles....only thing with our trucks is they never came out and said it was an issue....but talk with others with the same types of trucks and everyone is having the same issues.
I do have faith in our choice of vehicles so we will wait and see

This problem has been going on for sometime. They first blamed it on floormats. ABC did a segment on one of their news shows about the fatalities involved in this problem and were linking it to computer/electrical issues. Now I see they are looking into that too. I am sceptical when they say they know what the problem is. Right now they are trying to save their image because this is the single largest recall and problem any auto manufacturer has ever faced. I'm just glad that its Toyota.

We saw this on the news:
Niles woman experiences sticky gas pedal, puts advice into action
Niles, MI
Lynda Price says the advice she learned Monday on 16 Morning News may have saved her life when the gas pedal in her Toyota SUV suddenly became stuck.

Niles woman says safety tips helped in accelerator emergency

Toyota’s recall became reality for a Niles woman Monday after her gas pedal actually got stuck.

"I had, really, a death grip on the steering wheel and I looked down and I could just see it. I was at 90 mph at that point," explains Lynda Price shortly after the scare.

Lynda says the scariest part is her car, a 2008 4Runner, has not been recalled. That leads her to believe more models may soon end up on that list.

"I think people need to know they really need to watch their Toyotas, even if it's not on the recall."

Lynda was driving home Monday afternoon. After passing a school bus, she suddenly realized her gas pedal was stuck and kept accelerating.

"I could feel it. The pedal was just stuck. It was just going. I had no control over it."

Lynda says she recalled the advice she heard earlier that day on 16 Morning News and put what she learned into practice.

"I put all my weight down on that break pedal and then I grabbed it and then with all my strength just put it into neutral," Lynda describes. "Thank God there was nobody else on the road because I was on the wrong side of the road and went back and forth so I'm just extremely thankful at this point in time."

Here are a few tips if your gas pedal ever sticks, no matter what kind of car you drive.

* Put both feet on the brake and push hard, but don't pump them.

* Then throw the car in neutral and try to guide your car safely to the side of the road.

* Turn the engine off and don't take out the key until your car is safely parked.

* If your car has a push button start, just press and hold for three seconds for it to shut off.

After Lynda got home, her husband, Jeff, took the car for a ride and the same thing happened to him.

"It just stuck,” Jeff Price explains. “It just took off and wouldn't stop."

Lynda brought her car into a local Toyota dealership Tuesday and says mechanics can’t find anything wrong with her car. She says she was told her pedal is different than the ones that have been recalled.

One of the causes for Toyota’s gas pedals to stick is when they get caught on all-weather or after-market mats. Lynda did have an all-weather man placed over her carpet mat the first time the pedal stuck. She says the pedal was nowhere near the mat. Her husband, Jeff, says he took the all-weather mat out, though, before he drove the car and the problem still persisted.

Just be careful out there.

This is what I have heard too. People who did not have floor mats have had the acceleration problem. Right now I do not trust the fix they are doing. It may really be the computer that need to be replaced.

IIRC, you work for GM, right? I'm sure you don't have an ax to grind against Toyota or anything.

Does that really matter? You can't dispute the fact some of their vehicles have caused injuries and even death to some of their drivers. If I owned a Toyota vehicle that has been recalled, I would be pretty mad at Toyota right now. The same would apply if it involved any other automaker.

Of course it matters. He's accusing Toyota of trying to cover up their knowledge of faulty vehicles and only agreeing to recall them when the US government "went to Japan" and threatened to step in. He offers nothing to back up his statements.

I own two recalled Toyotas, one of which I have owned for approximately two weeks. I am relying on my dealership for information regarding the safety of my vehicles, not Joe Blow on the internet. Others may be more willing to take madmike's word as truth. I am simply pointing out that he has another agenda.

Here ya go.

or here.

or here.

That was unbelievably googlable. I'm not sure why you didn't simply pull up the proof that you were looking for, rather than calling maddmike a liar.

He isn't making it up. That's what the major news networks are reporting. People will take this opportunity to show their dislike for Toyota. That's just how it is when these things happen. If it was an American automaker, there would be people posting how they're glad they don't drive Ford, GM, etc. Is that really significant or relevant? I would be directing my anger and accusations at Toyota, not anyone else.
