Hi, Are there any toy train or toy monorail displays at WDW? We did see the toy train that runs on the ground at World Showcase in Epcot last year and were wondering if there were any others. My 5 year old grandson is fascinated by trains.

Thanks!

In one of the shops in England (Epcot) there is a Thomas the Train set up in the store that my DS played with for what seemed like hours. I think there were also characters (maybe Pooh and friends?????) in the same place.

Hopefully someone will verify that I am not losing my mind.

Christy--How long ago did you see the Thomas the Train set up? Do you know which store in England? It makes sense that it's in that country since that's where they are made. My kids love Thomas. I purposely avoided any shops when we we in WS because I didn't want my 2 toddlers breaking anything, but they would love playing with the trains.

We were there this summer (June I think) and the train was set up. It was raining outside and we were walking through the stores and there it was. I really remember it being wherever the character greet is in England, but sometimes the things I "remember" are not always accurate. :p

They sell a toy monorail set and it is on display at several WDW locations. Once Upon A Toy at DTD will have it all setup, and I remember seeing it on the shopping concourse at Contemp.

Thanks so much for the replies. We will have fun looking for these displays. My grandson loves Thomas the tank engine and monorails. This will be a real treat for both of us.

There is also a small display over at the Wilderness lodge villas. It is in the "golden spike" room, I think. there are some display cases with one of the engines and a couple of cars that Walt used in his backyard railroad The Carrolwood Pacific. Also some framed photos are on the wall. Although I might not make a special trip to see the trains, It would be nice to go the WL to see the lobby Christmas decorations, have dinner, and go over to see the trains!

There are also displays of model trains in most of the lobbies of the resorts. I know thre are some in the lobby at OKW and the BC and WL. :earsboy:

Other than the garden train display in Germany at WS there aren't many running layouts/displays.

Thanks again for the information. We will be sure to check these out... SOON!

There is a beautiful train display outside Germany [I think] in the World showcase. It is quite large and well designed. Complete with villages, farms, churches, rivers, hills, mountains, tunnels and bridges. There are several podiums with buttons you can press to make things happen in the display, like getting the bells in the church steeple to ring. It is really great.
