I will be flying in late to MCO and checking in at the AK Lodge. Are there any toll roads on the way ? and also do these toll roads accept credit card? sorry its been 20 years since I last stepped foot in FL.

depending on the route you take, you'll have at least one, if not two tolls to pay each way.
Bring cash, they do not take credit cards. It's been a few years but I remember it costing a 2 - 3 dollars each way.

1) Sounds good, but long way around, and LOTS OF TRAFFIC!
2) We will see you two days after your flight lands.
3) OK, maybe just one day after your flight lands.
4) Just kidding. Maybe.
5) Take the expressway and pay the tolls.
6) They take quarters ($1.00 and $1.25 toll booths).

7) MEARS (Disney Magical Express) takes the tollway route.
8) They are much faster and more direct, with almost nonexistent traffic.
. . . follow airport signs to 417-South (out of airport to Boggy Creek)
. . . take 417-South to Osceola Parkway Exit-3 (two toll stops)
. . . follow Osceola Parkway directly to Animal Kingdom Lodge *

* Osceola Parkway passes the Animal Kingdom entrance and flows directly
to Animal Kingdom Lodge. Stay in left lane as you near Animal Kingdom.

If you take 417 to Osceola Parkway, it is well marked at MCO (south exit).
417 has 2 manned tolls which are $1.25 each. They obviously make change. When you get off at Osceola Parkway (exit 3) there is an unmanned toll which is $0.50. Use the 2 quarters left over from the first 2 tolls. There is an unmanned toll getting on to go back to the airport, also $0.50. This route never has any traffic.

Thanks folks. Very useful info.

I will be renting car from National car rental.
Is the south exit to get to 417 clearly marked from the rental
car exit area?

Good to know 2 toll booths are manned as I need receipts
for reimbursement from company :-)

Check your rental car agreement when you pick up your car. I am renting a Budget car right now and there is an electronic box in the car - I can activate it by turning a switch and all my tolls are charged to my credit card - plus I pay a fee per day or in my case the maximum which is about $15 in addition to my tolls. It is an option if you don't want to use cash.

We always take 417 South from the airport, and there are some toll booths along the way.

If you don't want to mess with the toll booths, you can always get one of those Sun Passes (I think that's the name), and you don't even have to stop at the toll booths.

From a financial standpoint, I think it's more costly to get the Sun Pass, but it is a little more efficient, than stopping at the tolls.

I would go with the directions that RustyScupper gave you. His directions are a little more direct and will probably get you there faster, IMO.

Orlando Int'l Airport to Animal Kingdom Lodge

Leave MCO by the north exit towards Rte 436 (Semoran Blvd.)
Left at first light onto Frontage Rd. (becomes McCoy)
Little over a mile is next light, take left onto Conway Rd.
Immediately take another left onto Interchange #9 cloverleaf for Toll 528 (Beach Line) west
Watch for signs for toll plaza and take what looks like an exit ramp to pay toll if using cash (coins).
At I-4 interchange (end of 528) bear left for I-4 west (southwest).
Take Osceola Parkway west exit off of I-4.
After skipping exit for All Stars/Blizzard Beach (Buena Vista Dr.) get into left lane.
Bear left; Osceola Pkwy. takes you straight through Sherberth Rd. light to Animal Kingdom Lodge.

8. Take the ramp to Disney's All-Star Resort/Blizzard Beach Water Park/Coronado Springs
0.2 mi
9. Turn left onto W Buena Vista Dr
374 ft
10. Merge onto Osceola Pkwy via the ramp to I-4/US-192
0.3 mi
These steps 8-10 are incorrect.

This route should have two toll stops (I've driven it both ways half a dozen times). The first will be .75 you pay it like first thing. Then you will have one other mid toll stop and that will be $1.

Same prices going back, in fact the .75 toll is right before the exit to the airport so pay your toll from the right lane since you hit the exit immeditaly after.

The rental car company will try to get you to pay for a toll pass on your car. Don't do it. It runs like 6 bucks a day and the tolls are much less OOP.

I have had no problems with this route, roads in good condition but the toll speed is only 55, what's up with that? Back home toll roads run 75 except in towns where it is 65.

My GPS chooses this road using the setting for fastest route so I don't know why it wouldn't choose the 417. I figure I know this route now so it's the one I'll stick with. I want to say it's unmanned, but I have a vague recollection of a 'reciepts' lane.

But since I use tolls in two other states I could be mistaken.

Thanks for info. I will follow TheRustyScupper suggestion and take 417 and then onto osceola parkway.
