Hi fellow forum members,

On Sunday, April 13th, My fiancee and I will be making a day trip to Disneyland and the California Adventure Park while we are on vacation in Los Angeles for the week visiting my family.

While this is my second time visiting the California Adventure Park. This is my first official trip to the California Adventure Park. My first trip was a behind a scenes tour back in 2000 about 5 months prior to the park opening and the only reason why I was able to get a sneek peak was, Because a friend of my moms is a disney ride designer who did the Grizzly River Run at California Adventure Park and my brothers wife works in the coroprate offices of the Disney store as well. I guess you could say I am well connected when it comes to Disneyland and getting tickets for free and some other perks.

Anyways, I am wondering if any member on this forum have any tips concerning the park? We will get there around 11:00 in the morning and probably stay there for about 4 hours before we head over to Disneyland which I havent been in there since 1990 or 1991.

I already know the 2 rides that I want to ride are Soaring and the Grizzly River Run, But does anybody else have any tips in anything. Doesnt need to be rides either. Thanks....

Randy

Grab a FastPass (read Hydroguy's tips if you're not familiar with the system) for Soarin AND Grizzly River Run (you'll learn how to do that with Hydroguy's tips).

On my "don't miss" attractions for first time visitors include:
-Soarin
-Grizzly River Run
-California Screamin
-It's Tough to be a Bug
-Disney Animation (Turtle Talk with Crush)
-Tower of Terror
-Monster's Inc.
-MuppetVision 3D
-Electric Parade
-Aladdin musical

I'm not sure you will be able to get all of that done in a day trip, so if you're short for time, from that list, I'd remove Electric Parade, It's Tough to be a Bug, Monster's Inc., and MuppetVision. But if you end up with extra time, definitely give those a shot.

However with only a day trip I highly recommend using the single rider lines (If you don't mind splitting up) for some of the major attractions:
-Screamin
-Soarin
-Grizzly River Run
-Mulholland Madness
-Maliboomer

Thanks for some info. I will try to find the tips from Hydroguy concerning the fass pass which I am not that familiar with it. I have a feeling my mom knows a little about that as she makes a trip to Disney twice a year as she lives out there while I live out in MA.

As for the attractions, Grizzly River Run and Soarin are the only that I really want to ride at this time. I wont mind missing the others at all as I am recovering from a slight back injury and I really only want to spend a few hours at California before I head over to Disneyland. Its been so long since I rode Matterhorn, Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, and the Haunted House that I want to atleast get those 4 rides in. We have plans to stay till midnight that day which is when it closes.

I hope really hoping that Fastasmic will be shown that night at Disneyland as that is one show I would love to see.

"a friend of my moms is a disney ride designer who did the Grizzly River Run"

Please thank her for me, it's one of my favorite rides. :) But only if I'm wearing a poncho with a hood. Otherwise you can get seriously soaked.

If you're going to the park on a Sunday, during busy Spring Break season, and the park hours are extended, then it's a pretty much guarantee that Fantasmic will be showing.

If you really want to do just a couple of rides, make sure you get a chance to see the Alladin theatre production. It is a "not to miss" attraction. We have probably seen it 6 or 7 seven times and still thoroughly enjoy it. :thumbsup2

Ah I will be there on the same day taking my nephews on their first trip! Look for the crazy family of adults with the two little boys (probably throwing fits in their little mickey hats) ;)

Anyway I agree with the tips and do not miss attractions above, but I have to say DO NOT skip the It's Tough to Be a Bug 3-D show. The first time my husband and I saw it we laughed so hard, we saw it many times that trip and it is never crowded, you can always walk right in.

Have fun!

Thanks fellow members for the tips.

While we are on the topic of tips for California Adventure Park and while I want dont want to start another thread concerning this dumb question. Ill ask it in this thread.

I am a big coke drinker (about 12 pack a day) and I was wondering how much they charge for regular 20 oz bottles of coke at both parks these days(Disneyland and California Adventure)?

Bottled waters and sodas are around $2.75 each.

Thanks...Im guessing that is pepsi and coke classic in the 20 oz bottles. I had a feeling they were about $ 3, But wasnt sure. Cash wasnt a issue as I wont have a problem with cash. Just wanted to get ideas of how much cash I should bring all together as I normally just pay stuff with a visa, But for the drinks. I will pay with cash.

BTW, Is there any web page that shows the name of the places to eat at both parks and how much each item cost. I found one for Walt Disney World. Thanks.

Also...don't miss Turtle Talk with Crush..

allears.net has Disneyland and DCA menus as well. Nice site.

Thanks Danger Mouse for the website. Pretty much gives me all the info I need. BTW, Mcdonalds not serving Double quarter pounders at their Burger Invasion joint in the park. Its a shame. I will skip that place and just go to in-n-out later in the day.
