My sister just gave my kids her childhood pet. Speedy is atleast 18 years old. Any tips for making him adjusted to contact all the time again less stressful on him? Is there something I can rub into his shell? My sister couldn't remember what she had used in the past.

Just bumping up.....Now my cat and DS3 will not even come back into the family room because they are both scared of it. I can talk to my son about it, but any tips on how to destress the cat? :rotfl:

I have six sliders. What do you mean by contact all the time? Are you holding Speedy? If so, I wouldn't suggest it. Turtles aren't known for their cuddliness.

I am not holding him all the time. He is just used to being left alone and now he is in a house with 2 kids, a cat and a dog. I was just worried about him getting stressed with his new surroundings. Well I shouldn't have to worry about the cat bothering him. Stanley won't even come in the family room and he is still walking around all scared, big eyed and bushy tail.

I'm sorry I can't help but I do have a ? for turtle owners...my son wants one for his B-day but I have no idea what kind to get or what the different types even are! My DH had a turtle when he was a child, they let it just roam around on the floor while they were home but put it in a tank when they weren't home (and at night) the turtle lived for 26 years! He never got bigger than maybe 8 inches in diameter. This is the kind of turtle my ds wants so my question is...what is the name of this turtle, where do I get it? any other tips are welcomed! Thank you!

What is he living in? I know my turtles like to burrow down in the plants at the bottom of the tank when they're scared. They live in water, so it's slightly different, but maybe if you set up an area where he can "hide" when he gets too stressed.
