Any tips for MK or MGM with 14 month old?

We're off to Disney in 2 weeks with our son who will be 14 months old. We'll only be there for the weekend, and heading to the MK and MGM (and SeaWorld another day). I've never been to Disney with an infant...if anyone has any tips or suggestions, I'd love to hear them! For instance, I want to check out Mickey's PhilharMagic. Since it's 3D...how does an infant handle that (since he won't wear 3D glasses, I'm sure!)? I'm wondering if it might make him nauseous because it will look out of focus. Then again, maybe he'll just fall asleep!!

Hi Jen, I also have a 14 month old. When we went in Oct 2004 she was 7 months old it was also our first time with an infant. You will have to take it much slower but you will still have a great trip. The baby centers are wonderful - I wish they had these everywhere I go with my baby! They have the most luxurious changing tables you've ever seen. An attendant cleans them after each use and they have disposable paper mats to put under your child as well. They have kitchens with microwaves and feeding areas with nice highchairs. They also stock anything you might need - diapers, formula, a wide variety of baby food, some clothes, infant tylenol, sunscreen, etc. We brought our stroller and also used a baby bjorn carrier on most of the rides (my DD did POTC, Pooh, Peter Pan, CBJ, COP, etc.) In MGM you can take him to see Playhouse Disney). The only thing you need to avoid are the thrill rides. It's funny you mention Mickey's Philarmagic. I had never seen it so I was a little worried whether there might be something that would scare her. She couldn't wear the 3D glasses but I left mine off for some of it too, so I could see what she could see. You can actually see it pretty well without the glasses. My DD loved this! I tried to cover her ears thinking it might be too loud but she reached up and took my hands off her ears. She watched the whole thing and even laughed. We are taking her again in September when she will be 18 months and can't wait to take her to this again.

Incidently, what is your baby eating now? Mine is a very picky eater. She's still on some formula and eats baby foods and some of our foods but not many. I'm just wondering if what your plan is for feeding your son? I'm hoping she will be easier when we go in September but right now I find feeding her to be the biggest challenge.

My advice about Mickey's Philharmagic: Try and get a seat closer to the exit (it helps if you one of the first ones in since you enter on one side and exit on the other.) That way if you find your dc isn't handling it as well as you hoped leaving won't be a problem. The first time we took ds at 13 months it was too much for him and he cried the whole way through. Every child is different and you just won't know until you try it. Funny though, when we went again at 17 months it was a whole different story and now he loves it. So I guess at 13 months he just wasn't quite ready.

My son eats almost anything...but he's very picky about what he wants, when he wants it. Some days he loves chicken nuggets...other days he won't eat them. Some days he'll hot dogs, other days he refuses. Some days he only wants veggies (fine by me!). Some days only Cheerios! So I plan to bring along some healthier stuff (individual packs of applesauce, Nutrigrain bars, Cheerios, maybe some bananas) to try to get him to eat some good stuff each day. After that, I'll try a little of everything until he's full!

Stay clear of the great Movie ride, dd4 hated the guns, I never thought of that ride as scary until I saw it through the eyes of my 4 year old.

Just got back with a 9 month old...she loved it! Bring your own stroller, that's a must! Most of the rides are fine, she loved Small World, Pooh bear, Peter Pan's flight etc.. Have a great time!
