So I thought I'd introduce myself as I'm a long time Disboard member and since april I've been lurking around the weddings and honeymoons board...but I've never really spoken up, because it appears grooms are in the minority around here...:)

So my name's Josh, my DF (Melissa) and I were engaged on April 1st 2007! We're in the midst of planning our wedding and honeymoon. We'll be getting married here at home on May 17. Planning an outdoor wedding and a nice reception at a local church hall.

Then on May 21 we are leaving for a 4 nights cruise with Carnival and then checking in for 6 nights at WDW. She thinks we're staying at POFQ, but I've booked us a Woodsview room at the WL (shes never stayed there, but fell in love with it during out July vacation. I told her it was too expensive and we're on a budget for the honeymoon! -- I'm bad!)

So I'm checking in hee with you brides to be...hoping to make some new friends as we plan this thing. Looking for any tips, advice or ideas for the wedding/disneymoon.

Would love to hear some cool ideas! Hope we can turn this into a good discussion thread....if there are any other grooms to be out there...feel free to join in too...this could become our little groom-to-be support thread! :thumbsup2

So yeah...hi all!

Cheers,
Josh

:wave2: Welcome!

We love grooms! It's great to get another perspective on the whole process. I was going to recommend "The Engaged Groom" as a great book to read on the basics of wedding planning for guys, but it sounds like you are already hip to all that!

Wilderness Lodge - What a great surprise for your fiancee!

Congratulations! :goodvibes

Hey Josh!! Welcome to the board!

You're right, grooms are in the minority around here, but there have been some!

I think it's great you want to plan some great things for your fiance! Taking an interest in the planning definitely makes you a keeper!;)

You might consider a honeymoon photo session while you are in WDW, a private dining event at the GF, a Wishes or Illuminations cruise, a special tour, or a couples massage...there are so many options!

Be sure to get the wedding ears, and pins from the parks...maybe contact Gifts of a Lifetime to see what suggestions they may have.

Keep us posted on some of your plans!

Its nice to see another groom-to-be around here. Most of the time I feel like I am the only dude on here. But this forum has proven to be a great resource as my fiance and I are planning our own DFTW. Most of the people on here are either planning their own Disney Wedding/Disneymoon or have already gone through it. So any questions you have just ask away.

And you and I kinda think alike. My DF thinks we are spending our honeymoon staying in a studio at the BWV. But I was able to get points from another dvc member who owns at the VWL and we will be spending a week of our honeymoon in a 1-BR at the Wilderness Lodge Villas. (Shh don't tell her though ;) )

Welcome Husbands to be!

Can you get a hold of your reservation number and make SURE they mark down it's your honeymoon on all your dining and resort reservations if it's not done already?

My wife and I had our Civil Union Ceremony here in NJ where it's legal and then went to Disney on our honeymoon. The best part was EVERYONE saying congradulations with a big smile and a friendly wave!

Something I would recommend for a nice little surprise when you both walk into your honeymoon hotel room is a nice gift basket from the local florist in Disney. They can deliver and have it in your room for you when you get there..

here is the website! http://www.disneyflorist.com/

I'm married, but did not get married or honeymoon at Disney, however... I must say that on one of our trips, we ate at California Grill, then took the Wishes Cruise from the dock at the Contemporary and it was soooo romantic! There is just something about sitting out on the water, watching fireworks above the castle.

Hope everything goes well for you guys! Best!

Hey everyone! Thanks for all the welcomes!

We're really excited about our trip and hope to start getting some planning done this week...

As for the wedding...whew...all this planning is wearing me out! I'm going to need a vacation! :)

Its nice to meet you all, keep sharing those romantic ideas!

Cheers,
Josh
