Hi there,

It's hard to peruse pages of reviews (but I did do a search and found some reviews)...so I thought I'd just ask the question. Has anyone been to TREX lately? Thoughts? Good, bad, yummy, gross?

I know it's overpriced, but hey that's ok ;) Any pics of TREX food? We can't decide if it's worth the overpriced food just for the ambiance. We'd like for the food to be at least OK. I looked on yelp and there weren't that many pictures...hoping DIS'ers can help out.

Thanks!

We were there for our 2nd time in August. The food is ok nothing special but not bad. The portions are very big. My kids just love it there we mostly just go for that not the food. It's fun-try it.

We were there last January and despite a mixup over nuts, my son is allergic, we had a great meal and enjoyed the atmosphere. Will probably go back in April. Portions were huge!

We went in June and really enjoyed it. Was it the best food - no, but still good. The atmosphere is really why we went and we will definitely go again.....my kids absolutely LOVED it!!! Some food was better than others. I got the fish tacos and they just had no flavor but my DD17 had teh lasagna and it was very good.

We have gone several times. Dd loves it and I like the theme better than Rainforest. The food is good, portions are large. Its not cheap but fun to do!

Would you mind sharing the story about the allergy mix up? My DD has allergies to nuts as well and now I am a little concerned...

I'm with the group on this one. Decent food and very cool atmosphere. My son loves dino's and we've done it twice and will most likely hit it again this year.

We just recently went to TRex... we've got two boys that love Rainforest Cafe and are into dinosaurs, so it seemed like an obvious choice. I hadn't heard much about the food, so I didn't have high expectations for it... we went mainly for the atmosphere. But we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! Hubby had the lasagna, and he actually let me taste it... it was so good! Meaty and cheesy... with good seasonings. My mom and I shared the Boneyard Buffet - rotisserie chicken and ribs with two sides (menu said waffle fries + a choice of one other side, but they let us pick both). They were quite tasty! Juicy, soft meat... again, nicely seasoned. And I thoroughly enjoyed the way our veggies were seasoned... not just plain veggies, but flavorful ones.

Overpriced? Well, I don't know... I'd say it's on par with other TS restaurants in Disney World. But they do accept Landry's gift cards (which I'd earned through MyPoints), and they took our Rainforest Cafe Reading Rewards certificates, making the kids' meals just $.99 each, though drinks weren't included. (I believe those certificates are still available on the Rainforest Cafe website.)

I would say it is a dinosaur themed Rainforest Cafe. I liked it the time I went, and would probably go again. :)

We had EXCELLENT food! We really enjoyed it. Even if you don't want to eat there, they allow people to walk through, so you can do that. It's worth looking at.

I love it better than Rainforest. The only room I can't sit in though is the Ice Age room. Colors hurt my eyes.

All things considered, it's pretty reasonably priced (amount of food vs. Cost vs. Other Disney restaurants). The whole family enjoyed their meals. The food isn't the best I've ever had, but it was good. The atmosphere is out of this world. We will definitely be going back the next time we are at WDW.

It is one of my favorites! I love the food and have a good time everytime I go! I have a ton of pictures but I'm new so I can't post any yet. :sad1:
