Any thoughts on the Ramada Maingate Park

Yes, I will definitely post a review upon our return!

Color me confused as well, since I thought all the "premium" rooms had been renovated, while the deluxe category was mostly renovated, and the standard rooms have not been done yet. However, as I state that, I'm not quite sure where I specifically read this! I know that the Ramada posts a lot of information on their Facebook page also - perhaps it was noted there?

I've driven myself crazy lately reading Tripadvisor reviews of various DL-area hotels. For any of the top 20 hotels, you'll read a handful of pretty good reviews, 1 "Horrible - Never Again!" review, a glowing review, a mediocre review, and on and on.

Same here!! I do tend to read more of the negative reviews than I do positive, and then try to put myself in their shoes and see if what happened to the reviewer was some kind of fluke or a regular practice, and then I think about if the same thing would bother me as much. DH and I are VERY laid back, and usually don't expect a lot out of a hotel other than a bed to sleep in. Sure, we want it to be clean & friendly and extra perks are nice, but with the amount of time we spend in our hotel sometimes can't justify a high price for things we're not going to use.

Same goes for restaurants reviews. I hate to admit this, but DH and I have very cheap taste in food. Before going to WDW for the first time, I had read several negative reviews about some of the places I was really looking forward to, only to find out that a lot of "foodies" travel to WDW and expect a bit more out of those places.

It really doesn't take a lot to please us! :lovestruc

Same here - definitely. In fact, I was just reading one of the reviews for the Ramada Maingate. The reviewer gave the hotel 5 star for cleanliness, 3-4 stars for other areas such as value and service ...... and gave a one star for the main rating plus a headline of HORRIBLE STAY! Apparently, complaining once and getting a three-night FREE stay wasn't enough for this guest - some people are NEVER satisfied.

DW and I think the same way! We really questioned some of the restaurants we wanted to eat at when we went to WDW last year after reading some reviews. We kept our plans anyway, and thanks to our "cheap tastes", thought pretty much everything we ate was great.

We're hoping that this works out in our favor when we head to DL next month. We booked a standard Queen room at the Ramada Maingate for our week-long stay. When I was doing a bit of research back in Feb on a place to stay, I also read a bit of conflicting information on which rooms were renovated and such. I figured I would just take the base room and go from there. Once again, due to DW and I being satisfied with just a clean place to sleep, we didn't bother going after the extras.

Yes, I will definitely post a review upon our return!

Looking forward to the review!

Well, I just called the hotel, and now I'm even more confused! I'm thinking that the responses are a little opinion-based maybe. This particular employee said the premium rooms are the most recently remodeled. She said they have the nicest bedding and guaranteed fireworks views. She also said the beds were a little bigger, which makes no sense to me since a queen bed is a queen bed no matter which room it's in! I understand they still have rooms with double beds, but still... She also said that all of the deluxe rooms have been renovated, just not as recently as the premium rooms. Again, I hate conflicting information! Anyone else feel like calling a manager to get the real scoop?

I called sometime within the last week to ask about renovations. I was told that all of the deluxe rooms were remodeled within the last few months. The girls I spoke to recommended them over the premium rooms, as those were not remodeled as recently. The premium rooms do all have flat screen TV's, but that was the only real difference between the premium and deluxe. I didn't ask about the standard rooms, as we want queen beds rather than doubles. Our trip is in less than a month. We currently have reservations at Red Lion (on the $89 deal) but I'd love to stay closer (walking distance), which is why I was researching the Ramada. I saw that if you book at least 15 days in advance and prepay, you can get 25% off. For our dates, that made a 2 queen deluxe room just under $75 per night. Seems pretty good to me, as BWAI right next door is more expensive (about $11 more per night), has no breakfast, only double beds, and their pool will be down during our dates.

I'd love to see recent room pictures. Can anyone compare this hotel to Hojo's? That's the only other not-4-star hotel we've stayed at in that area.

To the person who said they did a review recently, do you have a link? TIA!

here are couple pics of our renovated room with a king size bed. i didnt take more pics since, there was not much room to see. i booked through expedia and for staying 4 nights we not only got a multi-night discount but we just received the $150 mastercard gift card for staying. if you are staying 2-3nights you can get a $50 giftcard.

Yes I drive myself crazy too reading reviews & then I read the popular reviews on the DIS. There is one motel off the list because on Tripadvisor someone did post an incident that would have me upset too. I guess a large family(over 20) took over the pool with loud music & drinking one night. I understand why the reviewer would be upset because these South Harbor motels have their pools right in the middle of parking lots & very near to rooms. I am still debating about these motels right across the street just because how they are set up. And we are frequent guests at the value resorts at WDW so it is not the motel style but how the much older motels are set up in Anaheim.

I was told the same thing when I called about a $12 price difference between 2 different King rooms. I was under the assumption that a "bigger bed" meant taller and maybe more plush since it was newer and not necessarily larger than a regular king/queen. In our reservation room request, I specified that I was looking forward to a very recently remodeled room with a gorgeous fireworks view, but I'm sure we'll be happy with what we get. I think I'm more excited about how close it is and the price than what the room is going to look like.

I emailed the hotel on behalf of all of us to see if we can get the scoop on which rooms have been remodeled, how recently, etc. Here's hoping we get a reply soon, since I'm seriously considering switching to this hotel (from Red Lion) for our trip next month!

We stayed 12 nights late 2009 in a premium room , Fantastic stay , staff was great , location cant be beat and the premium rooms were very comfy and clean .

I posted a review here somewhere upon our return.

Definitely recommend it

I talked to Fernando at the Ramada Maingate today. He said that the premium rooms were all remodeled last year and that they are currently 80% finished remodeling deluxe rooms. He also advised me that if I definitely want a guaranteed remodeled room, to go with a premium room.

I received two email replies today from the hotel management. Here they are:

Thank you for contacting me to clear up some confusion regarding our room types. I apologize for any confusion we have caused. Here is a basic run down of our room amenities and room type differences.

ALL of our rooms include the following amenities: Coffee maker, hair dryer, iron/ironing board, microwave, refrigerator

Standard Rooms: Offer 1 queen bed or two full size beds (These are the smallest of the rooms we offer.)

Deluxe Rooms: Offer 1 king bed or two queen beds

Premium Rooms: Offer full renovations with either 1 king bed or two queen beds, also includes a few upgrades including 32" flat screen TV, upgraded bedding, as well as a view of the fireworks from the common balcony area just outside the room door. All of our premium rooms are on the 2-4th floor of our 4 story tower building and all have elevator access.

Also, our additional amenities include Free Parking, Free Wireless Internet in all guest rooms, Complimentary Contienental Breakfast, Complimentary rollaways and cribs (based upon availability), and NO RESORT FEE!!!

We are continuing to upgrade and renovate our property. As you may already know we completed a full pool renovation in April 2011. Also, we have renovated a large number of our Standard and Deluxe rooms, however, all our not fully renovated at this time. Therefore, if someone prefers a renovated room they can either book a Premium room which guarantees a renovated room OR book a Standard or a Deluxe and request a renovated room. All requests are based upon availability. We will continue to renovate more of our Standard and Deluxe rooms after Summer (this is nothing that will be disturbing to the guests as we typically do about 6 rooms at a time).

Our website has the updated pictures of these rooms http://www.ramadamaingate.com/gallery/
We are currently working on our gallery, so you may see additional pictures added soon. We are going to be adding more pool photos very soon. The photos are labeled. The pictures of the Standard and Deluxe rooms (with the striped carpet) are the newly renovated Standard and Deluxe. Like I said above, not all of them are completed yet. We do have photos of our other Standard and Deluxe rooms which should be put back on the site soon as we continue working on our gallery. The two photos of the Premium rooms are accurate.

I hope you find all of this information to be helpful. I hope that you chose the Ramada Maingate - At The Park when your travels bring you to the Anaheim Resort. Please feel free to contact me directly for your reservation needs. I will be more than happy to assist you! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you.

Just wanted to send you a couple more comments and feedback after I took a look at the thread regarding our hotel. First, thank you for bringing this issue to my attention. I will be discussing this with all of our staff to make sure we are all on the same page. Our staff all have there own opinions on there favorite rooms based on personal opinions on what they like or feedback they hear from our guests. We do our best to make sure we answer all of our guests questions to make sure we get the room booked that fits their family best. Another couple of tips that I left out of my last email: When booking a reservation with us, ALWAYS check our websites specials page at http://www.ramadamaingate.com/specials/ or call the hotel directly at 1-800-854-6097 or (714) 772-0440. It is also a outstanding idea to "Like" our page on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/rmatp. We do amazing offers and currently have one on their that is for our Facebook guests only. Definitely a bonus to watch our page! Also, when a guest books a reservation, we want to know what the guest needs... in other words, let us know your requests at the time of booking. It is best to call us directly to ensure these requests are properly added to the reservation. Whether is be a renovated room request, rollaway, crib, ground floor, top floor, elevator access, away from stairs, etc. etc. etc., we want to know. This really helps us to know in advance, and makes it much easier to meet these requests when we are advised in advance.

Hope you find this additional information helpful!!! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Jessica Ockerman

That does help clear things up a bit for all of us, and I'm glad they're adding some more pics to their gallery!

Wow I am very happy with the feed back by the motel's management. The Ramada now is a strong #1 on my motel choice for next summer. Plus I am not too worried about customer service or any room we may get. It sounds to me they work very hard to keep the place updated & clean for guests.:yay:

I emailed once more to ask about the $10 off coupon available at tripadvisor, and this is what I got back from hotel management:

Hello!

This coupon is outstanding! You can actually combine this with special discounted rates and specials and the offer is $10 off per night. The only rule is that the reservation must be a direct booking. So, if someone books with a third party we cannot apply the coupon. Hope this helps!

Thank you,

Jessica

What a great deal! I know it would help persuade me in my hotel choice!
