This motel plaza gets nice reviews on tripadvisor. Any thoughts?

I stayed there once a few years ago. I think it was for the 50th. I personally would not recommend it based on my experience. At the time we had a room in the older building. They may have renovated since then. There were very few wall outlets in our room & one of them practically fell into the wall when we tried to plug something in. Some friends had a room in the other building that was much newer & nicer than ours.

We stayed at the Ramada Maingate November of last year and had a great experience. We got a free room upgrade & got paid $40 for gas (incentives offered at the time--check website). They have free parking and a free breakfast (not a great breakfast, but it's free). Our room was newly re-done and was very clean. My DH parents room was even nicer than ours. And their location is great! So close to the entrance.

We also stayed here three years ago with absolutely no problems whatsoever. Give it a try--I don't think you'll be disappointed!

i just stayed there just over 2 weeks ago. i left a review in the thread for the hotel on this site. i enjoyed it overall. good value, good location and i dealt with real friendly people.

i'd stay there again for sure.

Stayed there lots of times in the past with family, and most recently with friends in January. It's so close to the gates and we had a really good deal. We got lucky with a newly renovated room. We loved it! No complaints here.

We stayed there in May 2009 and were not impressed. The staff was nice, but the room was very run down. The free breakfast wasn't all that great, but it was free, so no complaining. Parking was free too. I've heard that since the renovation, it is much nicer, but based on how it was when we were there, I would be leery to stay there again.

Are all the rooms renovated now? I would consider paying for a Premium room. There are only three of us. Our DS will be 11 at the time of the trip next July 2012. I noticed they have little food counter areas serving pizza, smoothies etc in the front of the motel. How are those for a light meal or snack?

Oh that is so convenient. We would order a pizza almost every night. :thumbsup2 Booking right off the Ramada website will usually give you the best deal. They have some pretty good specials right now, and even after these deals expire they always bring out new ones.
Not sure about the renovation, you can always call or email them though.

We just booked them for our trip in December. We've never been there, so I can't really recommend it to you or not. However, in doing all of our hotel research, this one seemed to be the best deal. It was the closest to the pedestrian entrance, with free breakfast, free parking and free internet (we like to post pics while we're on vacation). And if you read the reviews on Hotels.com, just about every single negative review is addressed by the management. I have to respect a hotel that responds like that. I even read a couple of reviews that went back to correct their original negative review because of how well the management stepped up.

I did find that their website did have the best deals over every other site we checked. It's just DH and I, so we book a king bed. I noticed there were 2 different king bed options with a $12 difference between them. When I called to ask what the difference was, the very friendly person that answered the phone said that the more expensive room was newly upgraded and had a fireworks view. I'm not sure how great the view is, but the girl said it was definitely worth the $12 difference.

Not sure when you're traveling, but please let us know if you end up booking it how you liked the hotel and room.

based on what we were told not all the rooms had been renovated yet. we got upgraded to one of the recently renovated king bed room and it was fine. i was not blown away but i felt it was clean and comfortable.

we grabbed some pizza and it was fair. we used the little minute mart store to get bottled waters and other various beverages nearly every day. the other quick food/coffee/smoothie place never looked appealing. We walked up only once and the guy was in sitting in the back playing on a computer/ reading a magazine or something, and he was clearly too busy to help us.

Aren't the rates comparable to the Fairfield Inn? Or the BWAI? I think they are much nicer.

If I am not mistaken as to which Ramada this is (and Im pretty sure this is the correct one), we stayed there summer of 2002. So it has been some time. I hated it. Wouldnt go back. And honestly, I can't even remember what I disliked so much about it. And they tell you they are right at the pedestrian entrance, but there are hotels that are much closer to the cross walk that take you there. Desert Inn and suites is one of those hotels, which I have stayed at several times. BWPPI is another, I have my 1st reservation there for our stay next month (although trip is likely to be canceled). :sad2:

It is a great place!

We stayed there 9 nights last summer. The remodeled rooms are really nice, the pool was just completely redone (and it is pretty large), free breakfast (not really too impressive, but has the basics), and FREE Parking!

My biggest negative, was the WIFI (which is free) was spotty. But we were in the back of the property and I know they were working on improving this.

I would focus on the newer reviews...and currently, this this property gets good reviews.

Their staff is top notch. And if you have any questions or concerns, they are super helpful.

I have stayed at HoJo's, Carousel, Fairfield, DLH and GCH. For a budget trip, the Ramada Maingate gets a :thumbsup2 from me.

They have the best pricing on their website or if you "friend" them on Facebook, they have great deals posted on their too.

Good luck and have a great trip.

Thanks for all the responses. We are visiting next July 2012 so we have time to decide. But I enjoy the planning process too. :woohoo:If anyone has photos please share.

We'll be there this upcoming Saturday night for five nights - two rooms. Looking forward to it very much!

I like the location (closer than HoJos), the newly renovated pool, the free parking, free breakfast (I'm not expecting anything more than some free fruit and perhaps a bagel or something) plus I admire that the management has responded to just about every "bad" comment left on the TripAdvisor website for them.

I called sometime within the last week to ask about renovations. I was told that all of the deluxe rooms were remodeled within the last few months. The girls I spoke to recommended them over the premium rooms, as those were not remodeled as recently. The premium rooms do all have flat screen TV's, but that was the only real difference between the premium and deluxe. I didn't ask about the standard rooms, as we want queen beds rather than doubles. Our trip is in less than a month. We currently have reservations at Red Lion (on the $89 deal) but I'd love to stay closer (walking distance), which is why I was researching the Ramada. I saw that if you book at least 15 days in advance and prepay, you can get 25% off. For our dates, that made a 2 queen deluxe room just under $75 per night. Seems pretty good to me, as BWAI right next door is more expensive (about $11 more per night), has no breakfast, only double beds, and their pool will be down during our dates.

I'd love to see recent room pictures. Can anyone compare this hotel to Hojo's? That's the only other not-4-star hotel we've stayed at in that area.

To the person who said they did a review recently, do you have a link? TIA!

Weird. I called today, and the girl told me not all the Deluxe rooms had been remodeled, only some. You could book that room type and request a remodeled room, but were not guaranteed one. Only premium rooms are all remodeled.

I am confused too because on their website they called their renovated rooms (also in the website's photos) "Premium" rooms.
