I have been checking all sites available since the opening flights for the dates of 1/2 to 1/13 from north dakota to orlando. Yesterday they were 618, today 678 per person round trip. Any expert travelers out there that have any suggestions if I should buy them now before they increase further? or should I wait?

If you give me the winning powerball numbers, I can tell you whether prices will go up or down.

Waiting is a gamble. They might go down. They might go up. Anyone who says "wait until 'x' days/weeks/months before the trip" can't guarantee that.

IMO, it comes down to "will I be satisfied (not 'happy') paying 'x' amount right now?" If the answer is 'yes', I book. If the answer is 'no', I don't. However, if you book on a legacy airline (one that doesn't offer free credit for price drops), once you book, don't look back unless you're willing to be know you "wasted" money if the price drops.

If you are gonna play the Ouiji board, I would recommend Bing Travel's estimator:

http://www.bing.com/travel

Bing (Microsoft) bought out an airline price predictor that was a popular app several years ago, and they integrated it into their travel site.

If the travel date is less than 180 days and is to/from a city in their tracking market (major city), then the estimator will give you a Buy/Wait recommendation that is pretty good.

Hi
Being from northern Minnesota I was finding similar prices, of which we did NOT want to pay.

I checked the prices crazy regularly like twice a day. Early one morning prices were between $600-700. Later that evening the price crashed down to $460. I RAN with it and got our two tickets at that price. Not 12 hours later and the prices were back up to where they had been earlier.

Now, if that had not happened I would have waited. I would have waited because as I kept checking prices for flights less than 90 days (more often than not right about the 60 day mark) were quite a bit less.

Check often and be willing to wait it out a while yet. We've generally found some great prices for January flights in mid November!

GOOD LUCK!!!!
