Any talk about special DVC Disney Park Passes?

Just wondering, will you still vacation at Disney even though they may not offer a special park pass? Would you vacation there more or about the same?

i would likely vacation more honestly. It got me to do an extra trip in april this year because my pass was "about to expire" lets go back to disney one more time....

Will vacation there more. We're not planning on going to WDW until a DVC park ticket promotion is offered. If no park ticket promotion is offered, we'll be banking points and doing a HH beach/pool vacation or even a VB vacation. However, we'll be borrowing and buying points to take advantage of park pass discounts. We're in a stand off.

We wouldn't vacation more but we would definitely have more guests - the pass prices are overwhelming for many of our friends and family. The 199 deal was super great for them

So when they offered those 4 day tickets they were able to be used by non members? I didn't realize that-that would be nice for extended family trips

Yes, you could buy them for non-members. I can remember the limit on the number of tickets per member. The thing I didn't like with them is they were more restrictive than a normal 4 day basic ticket. You got one day at each of the 4 parks, no repeats and no hopping. But they were cheap.

I would really like to see a monthly payment system for the APs. I know we would "set it and forget it" and as a result vacation more frequently. If DVC does it for MFs, there is no reason why they can't for APs.
For now, we seem to get our value from the APs and when they expire wait until we return to get new ones. That obviously reduces our trips when we do not have active APs.

Yeah I would love that as well. I would certainly take advantage of that especially on renewels.

Here's the nutshell of the problem with a payment plan for out of staters as it's been explained to me.

The problem is collections, unfortunately. Like a lot of things in life, the 2% screw it up for the rest of us. Let me explain.

You buy 4 APs for your entire family at 10% down and set it up on 12 monthly payments. All is fine and well, right? 2 weeks later, you and your entire family leave the secure confines of your beautiful estate in Oakwood for a glorious 10 day get-away at WDW. Eat, drink and be merry. Had a ball on your once-in-a-lifetime trip to WDW. CHEAP TOO in the grand scheme of things! FF back home to the Oakland compound, never to make a monthly payment again. Cheap trip, except for what you drank, of course. :D

FL residents are MUCH more apt to return time and again, therefore there is not only state enforcement for payments that doesn't cross state lines, but there is the fact that they will likely WANT to be able to use their tickets again and again. Even more so, they may want to be able to buy tickets in coming years and don't want to be on any blacklist because they only live in Tampa. See the problem here?

My argument has always been that we, as DVCers, fall much more in line with the FL residents in that we are vested in coming back too, and the few that would abuse this would not nearly nullify the benefits to the DVC masses. This thing has been studied to death internally (from what I have heard) and the general belief is that there would not be that many more DVC AP sales to DVCers if the payment plan were introduced, the argument being DVCers (are going to) buy them either way. It's a valid argument and it holds water to a certain extent.

Anyway, that's the argument I have heard, right or wrong. I think they would benefit greatly from this offering and that the numbers are close enough to make it worth a try (to DVC AP holders ONLY and NOT the general public). It will happen sooner or later, whether it's sooner or later remains to be seen.

Coming up on our 60 day mark in 38 days and need 5 passes. I haven't lost hope yet but it's not looking good. So, with no additional discount it will be $2,816.95 with tax- ouch!!!!
Which now gets me thinking back to when we would buy our passes the day we arrived. Now with FP+ Disney is getting my money at least 60 days out-ouch again!

The problem with a payment plan is that DVC carries the risk (and collection authority) for dues, but Disney carries it for tickets. And Disney doesn't do collections outside of Florida or California. So, unless DVC is willing to take on the risk, essentially becoming the financing for a payment plan, then it cannot happen. And, frankly, I don't want my dues to go up because some people don't pay for their tickets.

It was six early this year. I purchased 3 - one for my son and two for visiting guests. Member Services handled the purchase including the credit numbers from my guests and then they handed the phone to me for linking.

We loved the $199 tickets this past year. We bought two for my Mom and Dad when we bought ours. They were perfectly happy with the four park days as were we and while I missed the PH a little, it wasn't that bad--and worth the cost...we would jump on those all the time and then in certain years get the APs. My MIL said she would do the $199 tickets on our next trip if they were available. She said she would be willing to give up PH and repeating parks.

Absolutely. Right now the three passes I need are $945 through UT. Another $199 promo saves me almost $350, which would certainly help me entice DH to go more often.
