coming in late morning then going to AK. Will spend quite a few hours there but we will not close the park. Any suggestions for "fun" meal that first evening. We have an 8 a.m. Chef Mickey the next day, so we prefer to eat by 8 p.m. I know AK has Rainforest, but we are willing to hop/transfer around within reason - I don't want to keep the kids out real late due to the early morning the next day.

apparently there is no character meal to be had for dinner that evening - I've tried for over a month.

What about there new resturant Yak & Yeti. We ate there in April it's good. Were going back in 2 weeks to.

My first thought was a resort and Boma is what comes to mind if you are going to be at AK. I would say to look to the resorts for something that evening as it is just as easy as hopping if you are already at a park. Our fav is Spoodles at the boardwalk, but many would not agree with us so take that for what it is worth.

I would have to say Boma's was the first resturant that popped into my mind.:thumbsup2 Just catch the bus going to Animal Kingdom Lodge, it is about a 5 minute ride. The food is excellent. Good luck with your choice.:wizard:

I should mention I have picky picky eaters - they like traditional American fare - will they have it here?

Absolutely. Check out their dinner menu here: http://allears.net/menu/menu_bomadin.htm I think there's a misconception that ALL their food offerings are African inspired and that's not really the case. A number of dishes certainly are, but there is plenty of normal stuff there too.

what is a zebra dome and a Simba paw print?

figures I would focus in on the dessert

Not sure on the paw print...but the Zebra Domes are outrageous! Its hard to explain, but I can tell you what is in them: Milk chocolate, espresso coffee, eggs, sugar, kahula, heavy cream, white chocolate ganache, dark chocolate ganache and sponge cake. They are dome shaped and are striped like a zebra on the outside.

o.k. Boma is the popular choice

then how do I easily get back to Coronado after we eat?

or is there something close to Coronado that we might consider as well?

If you want to use Disney transportation, I think the shortest route would be to take the bus to DHS then getting on the bus to CSR.

Boma i also my recommendation.

After that meal I'd suggest hitting another park, say Epcot for Illuminations then grab a bus "home". That show ends reasonably early.

You say you won't close down AK, you realize it usually closes at 5pm, right? That said sounds like dinner around 5pm is your goal. There are also some activities at AKL that might be cool for the family (drum parade for the kids, storytelling, animal viewing). You could try one or some of those before boarding the bus that will take you home.

I think it closes at 8p.m. that day
