I need your help....i'm trying to plan a winter getaway for next February in a tropical location. My problem is...I have never been to one of these places in the winter months. A few locations I have been thinking about is Key West, Nassau, St. Thomas, St, John. I have been to all of these places in the summer and know what to expect, but have no clue what to expect in the winter months. What is the water temperatures, air temperatures, and rain schedule? Really all we want is a nice relaxing week at a beach for cheap since we will be taking a Disney cruise in August/ September.

Thanks for all your help. If you can also think any other places that I didn't please let me know.

Thanks again
Travis

I would love to go and just spend a weeek in St. John. I heard from the locals who ran our excursion that they had terrific weather year round. The water may get a few degrees cooler in the winter but it is still nice to swim and snorlkle in. Where ever you go im sure it will be fantastic!:sunny:

The weather in both Key West and Nassau could go either way. Might be nice and warm, might be cooler (worst case is still better than most of the continental U.S., however). USVI is a better bet, but more expensive.

Here are some average highs and lows:

Nassau: Jan 77/62, Feb 77/62
Key West: Jan 75/65, Feb 76/66
St. Thomas: Jan 86/72, Feb 86/72
St. John: Jan 83/72, Feb 83/71

As I sit in my office with a wrap around my should against the cold....all I can say is any of them would be an option at the moment.

I'd have to agree. With the Bahamas and Key West being at about the same latitude, you can get cooler dyas, water and possibly rain. Of course, winter is not hurricane season so that's a plus. Head farther south to USVI for warmer weather. Their weather is usually pretty close to the same all year long, with maybe a 10 degree difference for the averages.

BUT if you are looking for somethin CHEAP, forget St. John, unless you are planning on staying in the eco-tents or something. You may want to look into Dominicna Republic, Costa Maya, or something like that if you are looking into saving some money AND laying on the beach!
