I love puzzles and just discovered that the existance of the SU DO KU puzzles. I am working on my first one. It's supposed to be "V. EASY". Any strategies to share?

I also love puzzles and recently discovered Sudoku while on holiday, I don't find them easy though ;) my son (aged14) loves them and can do them much quicker than me!

He told me to write the numbers 1-9 at the side of each row, and along the bottom, then have boxes 1-9 so you can cross off the numbers in the squares as you go along.

Good Luck :goodvibes

I discovered them a few weeks ago and am really addicted now.

Another one here addicted to sudoku, am hoping my addiction lasts as its a good way to kill the 9 hour flight in november

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these puzzles!! You can go to www.websudoku.com and print various puzzles for free. You can also change the degree of difficulty from easy to evil! I think the easy ones are too easy, the hard ones too hard. I find the medium ones to be the most fun now, but hope to get good enough to start tackling the hard ones again.

I, too, have been a fan of these puzzles since I first saw them a few weeks ago. :flower:

Tried my 1st one this morning & am already hooked. I don't need another addiction :guilty: They will come in handy while I wait at soccer & scouts & religious ed & the bus stop & ... for my kids.

Another addict here! Those 4 star and 5 star puzzles have me stumped! I go from loving it to hating it to not being able to walk away from it. Grrrrr! Maybe I'll try writing the numbers out to the side while working the puzzles as I love Tigger suggested. Otherwise, I have no clue how to finish those harder ones!

I have never done one, but my dad has gotten hooked on them.

I infected my DMom this weekend :teeth:

I find that working the 9 box grid rather than a long row helps when I get past the stage when I can be certain of number placement. I can do 1 and 2 star puzzles no problem and have gotten a 3 star but that is it so far. I think of it as aerobics for my brain! :p

I love them too. On this site I've been able to do one or two of the hard ones. It took me about 40-45 minutes though. On this site I've not been able to complete a 5*. I *think* I've done one 4*, but can't really remember. I've been able to do the all the others. I can get the easy/1* done in less than 5 minutes if I have no distractions. Has anyone seen any books of these? That would be a lot easier than printing out a bunch of pages.

I'm hooked! I started out saving it until I finished reading the whole paper while I was on medical leave, then realized I was rushing through the paper to get to the puzzle quicker, so now I do it first. The Boston Globe doesn't print the difficulty rating though so its always a surprise hoe easy or hard it will be.
