Any storms brewing for next week?

This is from the Orlando Sentinel:

" For now, Central Florida seemed to be well out of range of the depression's strike zone. Few of the computer models on which the hurricane center relies for its forecasts take the system farther north, and the National Weather Service said Central Florida shouldn't feel any significant impact, other than increased rain.

The weather service was forecasting a 60 percent chance of rain for the area on Thursday and Friday.

"The overall motion right now is South Florida, so Central Florida should just pay close attention to the latest advisories at this point," said Peggy Glitto, a meteorologist in the weather service's Melbourne office.

Still, state meteorologist Ben Nelson cautioned Central Floridians, especially in flood-prone areas of Volusia and Polk counties, not to treat the tempest lightly.

"The heaviest rainfall and where the big impacts will be will depend on the strength and organization of this thing, and right now there's just too much uncertainty to know," he said."

It seems as though the biggest impact if it gets close to Central Florida would be heavier rain. I think we can live with that.

Sorry I was unaware there was a weather issue. We leave on Sat and return on Tues are we going to get all rain? Please say no!

Safetymom - Am I reading that correctly - It appears that by Saturday at 2:00AM, the storm sholud be way off to the southwest of Orlando...

Am I right?

It's too soon to really tell what is going to happen. I think after today they will have a better idea.

At this point, right now, they are expecting the storm to be tropical storm force winds when it affects central Fl. Looks like Fri night into Sat morn. til it goes off into the gulf and develops into a hurricane. I saw the spaghetti models, and it shows they really have no clue until closer to the time. Right now it isn't that well formed. Once the system gets a good eye, they they can track it better. At this point, there really isn't a defined eye.

Is this the Katrina that they are talking about or Jose? I read Yahoo news and they are worried about Katrina and FL. Those of you in FL reading this - please reply. I'm due to fly in on Monday the 29th! Ely

It's what could become Katrina. As of now, it looks like the only impact it will have on Disney is some heavy rain Friday night into early Saturday. That could change of course, but that's the current path.

:goodvibes Good luck everyone, I will be thinking of you all :goodvibes . We will be coming down in 16 days, hope everything turns out ok. I just want to get down there.
