Any solo trippers out there?

Ok so I could be heading to Paris in March/April for work, and I reckon I will have 1 or 2 days free of nothing to do, so I thought to myself, why not make a little trip to DLP, but then I thought "well I am going to be on my own, wont I look weird"

Anyway has anyone done DLP on there own? more worried about eating on my own and queuing up for rides on my own!

Did my first solo trip to DLP last December (following a very pleasant first ever solo theme park trip earlier in the year), and I had a really good time - so much so that I booked another solo trip!

When I was there I had a few books on my phone (Kindle app), and still had internet access (roaming on O2 for £1.99/25MB/day), so just read or surfed the net while queuing up for rides or staking out a spot early for Dreams. And as for eating on my own, I was reading during those times as well (I read A LOT during that trip!).

I didn't feel weird being on my own at all. The advantage of being solo is that I got to decide exactly what I wanted to do. And could stay as late or get to the parks as early as I wanted. It does feel a bit lonely not being able to ooh and ahh over things with friends/family - but given the choice of a Disneyland trip on my own or not going at all I know what I would choose!

I have not been alone but if the day comes when my son no longer wants to go to DLP (and hubby only really goes for us) then I would definatly go by myself! I quite often do rides alone because hubby and son like ToT and RRC which i don't really enjoy so whilst they are soing that I go off doing my own thing - have made great use of some of the single rider lines

I'd so go for it!

When I lived in Turkey I would often have to exit to renew my visa and decided to go on solo trips just for that purpose. I loved it actually! Disney is very fun for the solo traveler! Have a great time! I found that I didn't feel that weird on my own and loved being able to do what I wanted when I wanted.

Do it do it! No need to feel weird - lots of people do Disney solo I've got my first solo trip coming in a few weeks - a stopover in HK on the way back from Europe. I can't wait! Last time DH and I split up to do our own thing quite a lot anyway, so it will just be an extension of that really. I do feel the same as you about dining alone though, so I just plan to do CS or live on snacks eaten while waiting for parades etc. Lots of people still do TS though and don't have any problems - I just don't feel like it's really worth it on my own.

I have never been to DLP before but I have done WDW by myself many times. I always go with my husband but he goes off and watches football at ESPN Zone one day and golfs another day or two or three and while he's doing his things, I go and do the parks or DTD by myself. I love being able to see and do everything at my own pace and taking the time to look at everything in all the shops. I don't feel awkward at all about being solo. The only thing I have never done is eat by myself in a sit down (table service) restaurant. Not at Disney or anywhere else. That I do feel self concious about. I did go to a movie by myself at DTD last weekend by myself. First time I have ever gone to a movie by myself in my entire life! I thought I would feel funny but it was fine.

To add - I've also done table service meals by myself (including Walt's). Again with a book to keep me company... It was okay and it didn't feel odd at all!

So glad I found this thread! I just booked myself a solo trip for September last night! My husband and I separated last year and I decided I really wanted to go on a selfish 'me' holiday this year. He would never have gone somewhere like Disneyland and I've wanted to go for years. Everyone I know thinks I'm mental for wanting to go on my own but I can't wait!

I’ve done a solo trip too when I was in the area and whilst I prefer being with my family I enjoyed the advantages of being able to please myself, spend as long as I wanted gazing and wandering, browsing the shops etc.

I didn’t really mind eating on my own but missed having someone to discuss the menu over with first and then sharing others choices which I usually wished I’d chosen instead of my own!

I was quite happy going on bigger rides solo (and I don’t do huge ones anyway) but felt a little odd as a middle-aged woman doing Snow White, Pinocchio etc. on my own. The only disappointment I found was on IASW or POTC where having the prime position in the queue for being placed in the front of the boats, the CMs put me at the back and then the people behind me got the first places. The fact that I remembered shows it still rankles!

Overall it is fun though and I am sure you will enjoy it – enjoy the luxury of being totally self-indulgent for once! April is a lovely time in the park too, the planting is all fresh and pretty and the weather is often lovely.

Just got back last night from my first solo trip. I did 2 nights/3 days and I have mixed feelings about it, it certainly want as fun as being with a loved one, and I found myself spending lots more time just being there, wandering around and soaking up the atmosphere as queuing for rides was a little awkward at times. Overall it was fine though, and seeing that I'm now an annual pass holder and I know nobody will be able to come with me as often as I'd like, I'll certainly be going solo again this year and in the future. I only ate counter service this trip but I may try Walts alone next time. At the end of the day, if you're a true fan you'll be having a fantastic time even if you are alone.
