I'm taking DS skiing next weekend for the first time. I'm looking for reasonably price skiing socks. I went to Sports Authority and they had like 100 different pairs and was so overwhelmed I had to leave LOL. What brand do you use?

My son snowboards and he wears under armor socks. I've found them at Marshalls for around $8/pair. He says they keep his feet super warm!

Here's my vote (although we don't ski often) for Smartwool socks. Expensive, but my thick pair designed for skiing has extra cushioning over the shins and is toasty!

That is what we got for my daughter for snowboarding, she loves them! Though they are expensive, I think I paid like $25 a pair, they are worth it and generally you don't need more than a pair or two.

We just went skiing and with a family of 6 we needed tons of ski socks! I bought all of our socks at TJ Maxx or Marshalls for half the price of the sports stores. All of them were great and kept our feet super warm. My advice is make sure you get socks specifically made for skiing and not worry about getting a specific brand!

Thanks everyone....I'm going to check out Marshalls/TJ Maxx tomorrow. I did find a decent price online for the Smartwool (9.99 a pair plus shipping)...but I'd prefer to get them in person in case they don't get here in time.

going to TJMaxx but do they have kids ski socks? hoping...we're skiing in 2 weeks...also need snow pants for me.

Dick's Sporting Goods Store had the Under Armour Ski socks for Buy 1 Get 1 Half Price right before Christmas. They had really cute designs for my teenage neices (appearance matters to them). We have the awesome Smart Wool but they are pricey.

May I ask where you found the Smartwools for $10?

Sierra Trading Post's online site. I looked on Retailmenot and found a 30% off coupon code, which brought them down to around that price.

I ended up getting a few pairs at Marshall's the other day. I got the Under Armour and another brand. Thanks!!

Montana skiier here, and my whole family of 5 wear SmartWool ski socks. Definitely worth the money as we never have any blisters.

Okay, this may sound gross, but I am gonna say it...

I had one pair of the smart wool last time I went skiing. They were so much superior to anything else I have ever worn that I wore them EVERYDAY.

I aired them out at night in the condo and we did do laundry one night. But really they did not smell.

Good Luck!

My husband has never went to ski, snowboard or any other snow sport LOL But he wears Smartwool in the winter to work, he works a lot outside....and they keep his feet toasty warm and they are nice and supportive. The extra padding in the front and heals is GREAT. He has never gotten blisters with new boots, and again they keep his feet nice and warm and his feet don't have that stinky boot smell anymore.

You can find them online if you type in a search for Smartwool Closeout or Smartwool Clearance....I find a lot of stores online that sell last years 'pattern' for really low prices, makes it easier to buy multiple pair. Oh and check out their thinner socks that go underneath too, they are wicking socks....my husband likes those too, and I'm sure they'd be great for a ski trip.

I am going to have to buy a pair of smartwool socks. I was just saying I need new ski socks.
