Any rumors regarding the dining reservation window going back to 180 days?

Planning like that for vacation is worse than going to work! Vacations are supposed to be relaxing and you do things spontaneously, not plan 6 months in advance every step of your day. It's one thing to know where you're going 6 months away but it's much more enjoyable to just do what you feel like doing when you are there! That's 1 of the reasons that Disney is no longer the "Vacation" used to be.
It's not a vacation, it's making memories!

Because at 60 days, many more people will know they’re going, ...
That sounds like a good reason to keep it at 60 days. The way it is now people keep canceling and looking for new reservations which puts much more load on the system and have to go back and keep looking for something to open up because of a cancellation just wastes more of your time.
Everyone is different! I also love making color-coded charts for my annual Disney trips. (I also do colorful charts with pics sometimes - not just for Disney trips, but for other kinds of trips, too!) It's literally fun for me, and it helps me build the excitement for my trip. I can't imagine just going without the planning. I'd be a nervous wreck.

To each their own! :-D
I guess maybe it depends on what kind of work you do. If your work requires you to do large schedules and timelines on a regular basis you don't want to do the same thing for vacations. If you have to do the same thing for vacation what's the point of taking a vacation? Vacations are supposed to be relaxing and fun, having a minute by minute schedule you are trying to follow certainly takes that away!

It can depend on how you plan, we build pool mornings and relax days into our plan because otherwise it can be tempting to just keep going until you make yourself ill. When you have 'pool day' on paper staring at you though it is like past you is protecting present you from turning into burnout future you 😂😂😂

Not everyone wants relaxing vacations. Fun yes, but I don't do relaxing. It feels like a waste of time when I've traveled far from home.

We are 194 days out and I so wish I could make ADRs in 2 weeks! I also like to spread out the planning and to fill my time waiting for the trip with deadlines like 180 days for ADRs and 60 days for FP to help pass the time :)

With park passes, it makes more sense to do ADRs at 180 days out - you already know which parks you are going to on which day. And you can always make changes at any point along the way - lots of people are constantly changing which opens up availability and that can be exciting to get after waiting for it!

At 180 days out, it also gives you a chance to adjust park passes if there is a "must-do" ADR that doesn't line up with your park reservations for that day.

I like your avatar! Wish that tour would come back! I did it 3 times and would pay to do it 10 more. Loved seeing Epcot early in the morning with no people!

I am a color coded chart person too :cheer2:
Because of my nerdy Disney planning, I prefer 180 days.
My excel file easily has 15 tabs. :rolleyes1
On our "first" one-and-done trip, I had multiple itineraries options printed for each day so we could be "flexible" :rotfl:
I've been making spreadsheets for my trips for 20 years since my honeymoon! Knowing I will see what I want to see, do what I want to do, not miss out on things and get my money's worth IS relaxing for me. Not planning is stressful. FOMO is stressful. The hubby doesn't like militant days (so I keep that in mind when planning) but he does appreciate it when I plan because things go smoothly.
I loved 180 days ADRs. There should be a reward for us uber-prepared folks!

LOL. I'm right there with ya'll. I'm a numbers analyst by day - and a spreadsheet enthusiast at night. :)

I look at planning details of a vacation the same way I view packing for it. If I don't pack stuff, I will have to spend time shopping for it while on vacation. If I don't plan stuff before I get there, I will have to handle the logistics while I'm on vacation. I can make dining reservation plans while watching TV at home, or I can make dining reservations while I am on vacation, and likely have a harder time because most things are booked. I'd rather do it from home.

Data Analyst/excel nerd by day, spreadsheet enthusiast by night (and by day when I'm avoiding actual work! :rolleyes1)

I couldn't decide between the love or the laugh emojis. LOL. I use excel for my job too. And this week have avoided work with stalking disboards.

Oh it's been bad. I'm very backed up on work because I can't stop stalking these forums. I need them to make an announcement so I don't get fired!

Yeah. I worry at times. Thankfully we are a little slowed down at work at the moment.

We are going over Christmas - and I don't want to accidentally miss an announcement like "ADRs moved to 90 days", or FP+ added back but, here is when & how". Last time I went to Disney it was still paper fast passes, so even the FP+ will be a learning curve for me.

I like this take on it, I've often said to people who ask why I hyper organise our Disney vacation that I do because it means I dont have to think when I'm away. The only choice I have to make is whether I do what I've had planned or not. Nothing worse than a vacation of 'what now's'

I do too. I am an admitted uber planner. I do it so I know the up to date information I need to have stored in my brain to make the plans my group needs to have a good vacation and not have to "think" about all the stuff. Disney offers so much it can be overwhelming. I'd rather have everything planned out before arriving so my only thought is whether I want to follow "the plan".

60, 90, 180 days it doesn't matter. The only issue would be the people between 61 and 180 days trying to make reservations at the same time if/when they decide to make a change.
Once the dust settles it makes no difference but that initial push would be insanity !
