the electric light parade has become the spectro magic parade, which is essentially the same parade with different music.
Actually, SpectroMagic is a completely different parade. The Main St. Electrical Parade used only twinkle lights, and had the following floats:
Blue Fairy (from Pinnocchio), Train/Drum (driven by Goofy, carrying Mickey and Minnie), Alice in Wonderland (Alice and the Caterpillar on giant mushrooms, lightning bugs, and turtles), Cinderella's coach, Captain Hook's pirate ship followed by Mr. Smee, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves w/ Dopey driving mine cars full of jewels, Pete and Elliot (Pete's Dragon), Dumbo's Circus (with King Leonidas of Bedknobs and Broomsticks playing caliope), and the American Flag/Eagle/Fireworks float.
SpectroMagic, however, uses twinkle lights, strobes, high-intensity flashlights, miles of fiber-optics, and fog.
SpectroMagic is comprised of the following, completely different float units:
Spectromen/Fanfare/Marquee followed by Mickey on his own float, Silly Symphonies (starring Genie, Goofy, the Magic Harp, Jazzland bass cellos, Chip and Dale), Sleeping Beauty's Garden (featuring Fireflies, Butterflies, and the three good fairies), The Little Mermaid's Ocean (bubblefish, Ursula, train-fish, Ariel, Flounder, Sebastian, and King Triton), Fantasia (featuring Hippo and Alligator, Dancing Ostriches, flying horses, and a giant Chernabog), and the Grand Cavalcade (featuring dozens and dozens of characters) The entire cavalcade magically changes from silver and white to color!
SpectroMagic debuted in the Magic Kingdom in the early 1990s, when WDW's MSEP went to
Disneyland Paris, where it is about to be retired until the opening of Hong Kong Disneyland. Disneyland (CA)'s MSEP ran at WDW from 99-2001 before returning to the west coast for its DCA run.
