Any Rumors of Extending the Be Our Guest Breakfast? Update: July, Aug, Sept, Oct 1-3 NOW AVAILABLE!!

I agree that they cannot confirm that an extension is going to happen but being in IT, an update like this doesn't happen by chance. A lot of planning and testing has gone into place before the code was uploaded to add the new dates.

Will it be the exact same breakfast that is currently being offered? That we don't know but we do know with 99.9% certainty that breakfast at 'Be Our Guest' will continue to be offered past July 18th!

After a continued discussion with a CM (once again, take it with a grain of salt because even he admits that they have no clue), the breakfast option has just 'appeared' in their system as well; while I got no straight answer, his best advice was to stayed tuned to the Disney Parks Blog (as if we don't already!) and stay tuned, because they are expecting it to be announced within the next few days now that it has come into full effect in the system! :)

Happy hunting!

1) How do you know?
2) Please cite the source for the statement.

I do not agree with their assumption with 99.9% certainty, but I am assuming this comes from the recent update on WDW.com
If you select dates between July 18th- October 3rd, it does show breakfast hours under the availability of BoG, while you are unable to book reservation slots at this time, it does appear as available. If you select dates after October 3rd, the breakfast option and hours disappear from the schedule. I am assuming that it is because of this people are guessing it will still be available, but we do not have any official answer from the parks as of yet.

Yes. As someone who works in the IT field and with system changes and updates, any change regardless of how small it is requires a number of people working on the code, testing it in various environments and then the changes eventually make their way, in this case, to the Disney website and MyDisneyExperience.

I'm only saying I'm 99.9% certain because this change to the website would not have happened accidentally but required weeks/months of planning and preparation. Also, if it just 'happened' by accident, Disney would have backed out the change quickly.

Just my .02. I could be wrong and time will tell but I would not have changed the title of my thread unless I was quite confident in the changes Disney had made to their site.

Do you really expect "free dining" to be busier than summer? They run the free dining promotion to get people in the park. There will be more people in the park during July than any time during free dining.

We are at WDW July 18-25 and it's been very easy so far to get all the ADR I wanted. I'm still changing some and I'm able to get popular hours even now, less than 45 days before check in. I really think it's easier to make TS ADRs in July than during FD.

There's really no reason to obsess over this. I can pull up a reservation in the 8 o'clock hour every single day in July, up to the 18th. These aren't going to sell out instantly.

Only difference there is no free dining for those dates so it probably will go a bit faster for free dining dates.

The park is also more likely to open at 8am in the summer. Many people are not willing to give up park time for breakfast. If people booked to get into the park early, they may cancel if hours are extended.

Perhaps the parks will be busier, but I have found that during any FD promotion, restaurants fill quickly, especially the ones in the MK.

I wouldn't pay $20 OOP for breakfast, but I'll use a QS credit on it.

Thanks for the update. I almost gave up hope. With all the talk about it lately. Thank you so much for the head's up

Actually, the biggest difference is the park hours... In the summer, the MK is regularly opening at 8 and people don't want to give up their early morning touring plans for breakfast... The later in summer it is, the less likely the park will be opening at 8, so you will get the empty Main Street pictures and a jump on New Fantasyland if you get the 8 am ADR....

Just my 2 cents....

Does BOG breakfast really have omelets? The only place I see this is on the Disney site where you can book a reservation, but if you click on the menu icon, there is no omelet on the menu...

Start your day the French way—with espresso, café au lait and assorted pastries, from croissant and pain au chocolatto our French croissant doughnut! You can insure a bon jour with a fluffy omelet, breakfast sandwich or scrambled eggs, all perfectly prepared to soothe the hungriest beast.

Quick-service breakfast is available from 8:00 AM to 10:00

Perhaps they are changing up the menu? I don't think what they currently offer for breakfast has been recieved very well.

As someone who also works in the IT field, and has experienced other strange happenings on the Disney site, I think there is some truth to be found, but not as much as some would like to believe.

The "Breakfast" option was available through 180 days when it was first announced, even though you could only book through June 18th. At some point, they removed the breakfast option. Now, they've added it again. Maybe on purpose. Maybe they reverted something else and this was a side affect. Or maybe it's just coded to the operating hours, and someone loaded new hours. We've seen them make mistakes with that before, cancelling thousands of FP+ reservations when someone entered "AM" instead of "PM."

Personally, I expect breakfast to continue, but I also expect changes to be announced at the same time.

But isn't a QS credit worth $20?

Yes,but there is a vast difference between using CS credits for meals that one would not normally pay OOP for, and paying 20.00 for a meal that one feels is overpriced. Once you have the credits, and decide where you want to eat, you really do not need to consider the cost of the meal unless it is to decide if you are spending too much on the DDP.

Agreed, for me one of the joys of DDP is not needing to worry about the cost of things (be that expensive or cheap), you can just eat where appeals

We usually end up with extra QS credits on our trip anyway.

Most people going in Sept will be using free dining(like me) so it will absolutely be worth the QS credit for us to try breakfast there. I would rather do that than waste a TS credit.
Credits are a form of currency. I guess this is why they use "chips" in Vegas. You've disassociated any value, despite the fact that you paid for them (in one way or another). Isn't the whole point of "free" dining that you got a deal on your meals? Squandering that value seems to defeat the purpose.

I really don't see how going to breakfast at BOG is squandering any more than using a QS credit at your hotel for breakfast.

I guess you need to decide the value of each CS credit, and then decide if using the CS credit at a restaurant is squandering it. I think that part of the value CS credits have is that if you want to patronize any particular restaurant, but the cost would be prohibitive if you had to pay in cash, but you can use your CS credit there, then you are not squandering it. I actually think you have maximized the value.

There are several meals that I would think twice about buying if I had to open my wallet, but that is because I am very cheap! I cannot help looking at prices, so honestly I would look at the prices of BOG breakfast and cringe. But with my handy dandy credit I can happily enjoy an overpriced Cronut and feel pretty darn good about it. The truth is that if my family wanted this restaurant, or any other to be honest, we would book it and pay the price. I would look at the cost, tell everyone to order what they wanted, and move on. So I would get a good deal on this meal using the plan.

We don't usually eat QS breakfast at the hotel. Sometime I make an ADR for a TS for breakfast, but usually we eat something in our room. Since we go during F&W we usually have exta QS credits left over from snacking around WS. When we have free dining, I don't always worry about getting the biggest bang for our dining credit. And before we spin off into the free dining isn't really free deabte, since the room only discount for POFQ is less than it would cost me to feed my family on vacation, I go with free dining and don't feel any pressure about how I use my credits.

I think the extension is coming any time now. If you go to the dining page, it is announced. I don't think this was ever there before.
