The last time they did this they announced some new itineraries with one of them being the NYC port! Maybe that's what they plan to do? I can't figure out the "huge and magically chilly surprise" comment though I would LOVE for them to announce the itineraries a day ahead of opening up bookings. It would give everyone time to figure out what they really want!

I can't go, but I wonder if this will be podcast or anything?

Edited to add: Oh wait, I just realized this is a DVC announcement. I know NY has the highest DVC membership. So who knows

Just called my TA, hoping to bump our cruise from our Oct. 2013 one on the Dream to T'giving week 2014 on the Fantasy! Back when I booked for 2013 I wasn't realizing it would be my oldest's 1st year in HS...don't want to pull him out for an entire week.

DVC Members are often given invites to special events (as are others such as D23 members, AP holders, etc.) such as a preview of the new Fantasyland which they have been doing recently.

Possible, but the ice rink is in Rockefeller Center.. not at the Pedestrian Plaza 45th & 46th Sts.

I'd also say it must be for Tinker Bell and the Secret of the Wings. The new movie comes out on October 23 and involves winter fairies. At Disneyland they are putting in a Tinker Bell ice skating rink at Downtown Disney.

Hmmm. Maybe DCL is going back to Alaska? For a DVC cruise?
You can't find much more ice than a glacier.

Unfortunately, I think the NY event has nothing to do at all with cruising. I think it will be a special opportunity to ice skate and meet a couple of fairies, to promote the new Tinkerbell movie. I hope I'm wrong, but I guess only time will tell.
