I wanted to try something differant then my usual workout so I found some rollerblades on clearence at the sports store and thought I would give it a shot. My DH is making me where the pads and helmet, not thrilled about that. I am hoping I can build up my ankles so I can give ice skating a shot, something I haven't done in more then 15 years.

roller blading. I used to do it for hours before DS was born (~4yr ago). I don't get much opportunity to get out anymore. I won't skate on sidewalks and roads, only a paved fitness path that I must drive to so its a bit inconvenient. But its sooooooo much fun and lots of great exercise. Yes do where the protective gear, especially the helmet and wrist guards. Have fun!
