Any road closures due to the blizzard?

DH is in his truck on the way to Philadelphia. I am not finding anything on the internet or the weather channel--are there an highways closed down due to the blizzard in your area?

He is mainly concerned with Interstate 81.

I"m an hour northwest and we don't have near the snow they do in Philly. We have just a few inches, but my cousin who is between here and there and has about a foot.

I81 in VA is basically a parking lot. There are accidents everywhere. Some areas will get over 2 feet before it is over.

I'm in the DC-area. I heard someone call into a local radio station earlier today and at that point they had been stuck on a local Interstate for several hours already.

Pittsburgh-area
KDKA in Pittsburgh 1020AM...they might have some traffic reports about I-68/I-70 and I-81

Thanks everyone! He left here today (South Mississippi) and is going to Philadelphia to unload on Monday. He is with another truck driver and they were considering turning back. I haven't talked to him in the past couple of hours so I am not sure what they have decided.

Do you know what town/city he is close to? I think the closer folks are to the Atlantic the worse the snowfall was. It is just now starting to taper off around here, that's after 24 hours of heavy snow - we probably got at least 2 feet of the stuff. I don't *think* that the areas a little further west of here where it normally snows like crazy (say...oh, I don't know...Preston County, WV and Garret County, MD) got hit as badly as Charlottesville, VA, Washington DC and the coastal/near-coastal areas of the Carolinas.

Hope you hear from him soon, it's good he's not driving alone and I'm sure he'll use good sense. After all, he married you !

Sorry to hear that. I think VA is too so I guess any of the Interstates in the general vicinity (I-68, I-81, I-95, I-70, I-76, I-66, I-64, I-77) are probably in *bad* shape.

I live in Charleston, WV and we've been hit pretty hard but the Beckley area is a lot worse which is south of Charleston. We have about a foot here in Charleston and lots of people with no power. Not sure which way he will be traveling but the WV turnpike is shut down (at least it was a couple of hours ago) and it is part of I-77 and goes right through Beckley which got about 2 feet. They were sending the National Guard to help get people out of their vehicles that had been stuck on the turnpike all night. Hope he has safe travels and as a previous poster said, plenty of snacks and gas.
