I have rented before I was a DVC member and know that 99.99% of the posters here are very honest. However, I would like to know if there are any risks when being the buyer in a points transfer. For example:
1) If the person you transferred points from fails to pay dues or defaults on the loan, what can happen to the points you now have in your account or with any reservation that you made with them.
2) When I called MS to make a reservation, all they asked for was my member number. What would keep someone that you gave your member # to so they could transfer points to your account from, in the future, posing as you and transferring points from your account into theirs? I know this is a very remote possibility, but if they did it and then sold their contract before you found out, is there any recourse other than the law available?
Also, what guidelines by both the seller and buyer should be followed when making a transfer? In terms of when payment is made, calling MS, etc.
Thanks in advance for any help.
