Last year I went on the new Pooh ride and having knee difficulties and the fact that it is not a deep seat, I had a terrible time getting off the ride. i was so embarrassed I did not try another ride that day. I need rides where i havethe ability to lean forward and pull myself up. HM ,Buzz Llightyear etc are not a problem. I would appreciate knowing what to avoid if any of you have had problems and what is easy. Thanks so much. I am going to try again next weekend.....:goodvibes

My friend has a lot of knee problems and I am trying to recall what was really bothering her. Roger Rabbit Car Toon Spin is a tight squeeze in the seats for Pooh-sized people. Of course, things like Pirates are okay. Have you been on Mike and Sully to the Rescue at DCA? If I can remember which rides were bugging my friend the most, I will post again.

I have, sort of, related question.

Are there any rides where being a piglet sized person (sounds much nicer than shrimp or Hobbit which I'm often called) is going to get squished when riding with their pooh sized friend? Or have the lap bar/restraining device be fairly lose?

My friend is much smaller than I and the only place that's a problem is on Big Thunder Mtn Railroad. However, its not really that bad The other rides for the most part have individual bars or aren't wild enough for you to be thrown about.

Hubby is 5'10" and currently just under 300 lbs. He's built like a former sumo wrestler, and has a belly along with a broad back and tree trunk legs (saying that he's not ALL belly, that his weight is sort of spread out).

The ONLY ride he has not been able to do at all is Maliboomer. The combo of his belly and very broad and thick back keeps the shoulder restraint from being clipped with a tether. On CA Screamin' the shoulder harness is fine on him (he was worried, but happily was able to ride!), but with Maliboomer there's a strap from the bottom of the shoulder restraint that is clipped onto the seat, and he's about an inch, or maybe half an inch at this point, away from that happening. He hopes we can plan another trip before Maliboomer is taken down, b/c he has been losing weight (WW for the last 2 years) slowly but consistently, and thinks he'll be able to fit it soon.

For the Pooh ride, were you in a seat other than the front? I've read that the very front is better for those with knee problems b/c it gives you a bit more room. Or wait, do I have that backwards? :headache: Maybe someone can correct me, but there's a difference between the very front and the middle and back rows. I think it is the front, b/c if hubby, DS and I are riding, hubby sits in the very front and I sit behind (and DS sits with whoever he wants to sit with), but if it's just me and DS we sit in the front. Anyway, it's worth a shot to try again, sitting in a different spot.

Astro Orbiter is obnoxious to get in and especially out of. But if you're riding with a kid it's even harder. Hubby will NOT do it anymore with DS, and since DS is only 4 that means I have to ride it, and I don't like AO. What's a bummer is that hubby really loves AO, he just hates getting in and out, especially riding with DS. (not that he hates riding with our son, but the maneuvering is harder)

He's never had a problem with Space, interestingly. But his height is mainly in his torso, so maybe that's why there are no issues with his legs hitting anything.

Just remember, if you want to ride by yourself it's OK, just tell them. When we are splitting up, instead of saying "3", we say "2 and 1". Seems to work for them (though on another board some CMs said they didn't like that, but we were TOLD to say it like that by a CM, soooo....). No one has ever blinked an eye. So if you are more comfy by yourself, do it. Also, the CMs that hubby has dealt with in his quest to ride Maliboomer have been kind, courteous, and polite. He is self-conscious, and he has been incredibly disappointed, but he has NEVER been made to feel embarrassed or bad or shamed. They try hard to clip the tether, but if they can't they tell him, and he exits. They have been all business. So don't worry about reactions from CMs, and if by some horrible chance you do get a CM with an attitude, take care of that with their manager or City Hall, b/c that is not how they should act.

For the Piglet, BTMRR would be the main one. In '05 I was smaller than I am now and my brother and SIL watched our then 1 year old while hubby and I went on it together, and I was free floating. I don't personally get scared by that sort of thing, but some are. But the main problem was hubby's legs in that case (belly's can be moved, LOL), and that isn't something that's going to change b/c they are all muscle, so we'll never have a time on BTMRR when I'm not free-floating a bit. And DS will ride with me, once he is brave enough to ride it.

Bumber hit it on the head!

My wife and i are both pooh sized (size 24 gals!) and on rides like peter pan, pinocchio, thunder mountain, snow white we ride 1 person per row.

On HM we are fine sitting together.

On Pirates we try to ride in the middle of the boat. Once a CM stuck us in the front, the boat almost got stuck, so we learned our lesson there.

We haven't tried space mountain, or the rides in CA.

Isn't that where she proposed?

Audra's mention of POTC reminded me...on a splashy ride, try not to sit in the front, unless you and your friends want to get very wet. Hubby, for some reason, was put in the front of the Splash boat, with my marathon-running trim brother, and the two of them were wetter than they could have gotten in a shower. Lucky for my brother he was in his running stuff so the water wicked quickly and only his shoes were wet. Hubby was wearing cotton though, and he dripped for hours.

And when they put us in the front of Pirates, it tends to be much splashier on the drops than when we're not in the front.

I found a website that has photos of the ride vehicles. I saved the link thinking that a question like this one would come up again! Don't know if it will help but it can give you an idea of the seating on various different rides. Here it is:

YES! :)

And yes, you will get so much wetter if the larger guests sit in the front. We went on splash mountain on a colder night when they closed at 8, and those were the longest 2 hours of my life after that ride!

My inlaws were seated on POTC in the front and their equally heavy friends were both seated behind them. They totally felt like they almost flipped the boat. So maybe if you could request a seat in the middle on that one. Other than that, I can't help much. I've heard of a lot of people doing the one person to a seat on BTMRR and other rides like that

To the Piglet lady, you will definitely want to be careful on Big Thunder Mountain (like others have already mentioned.) I went on it w/ my son, and kept trying to stay on my side so I wouldn't bump into him. It seems like I asked the CM which side would be better for me, and he said it wouldn't make a difference. That's the only one I can think of off-hand.

Thank you so very much, MarieZP for the neat pictures. i really appreciate everyone's input. :goodvibes

I'm not pooh sized, but even I find the seats on mulholland madness to be small and uncomfortable. So I imagine that might be a bad one for larger folks.

I agree w/ Jane...Mulholland Madness is a tight squeeze for us pooh sized folks. Other than that I've had no problems with any of the other rides. :thumbsup2
