Just curious if any one of you have this carrier and reviews on it? DH and I just ordered it from Amazon yesterday to use on our upcoming trip with DS! Here is a pic....

We have an older Kelty carrier and while we love using it for various purposes (walking in Race for the Cure, etc.)...I definitely would NOT want to lug that thing around WDW!

Both dh and I carried ds (2yo at the time) in a Beco carrier when he wasn't in his stroller or walking around (w/ a tethered monkey backpack). It was lightweight and easy to use and when we weren't using it ... it rolled up nice and small and stayed in the bottom of the stroller. You definitely cannot do that w/ the Kelty carrier!

There are other similar carriers to the Beco that could be useful as well...such as the Ergo. For smaller/younger kids a pouch or ring sling may work too.

Although I've read about others using them in the parks... I just can't imagine what a PITA it would be to haul it around. I know my 2yo wouldn't have wanted to be in it 24/7 and you wouldn't be able to take it on most rides (unlike the Beco).

We have the Kelty FC 3.0 baby backpack and my husband uses it around the parks, he even carried our 24 month daughter in the Minnie 5 and 15K.
He says that it is fine when he is moving, but it gets very heavy when standing still.
Our daughter loves being in it, as she can see every thing.

I would not bring a backpack. Its bulky and you ahve to take it off to ride rides and in shows. If you get a front carrier, the child can stay in it for those things.

i agree with the others, it does get pretty good reviews from those who like to hike/do extended carrying while doing physical type things.

however, its not a great on/off all the time carrier for disney.

just wanted to add, i too have a beco and like it alot.

i also have a pikkolo from www.catbirdbaby.com thats new that i havent really worn and could part with (somerset i think is the print, black straps with a while/lime/blue paisley print). its very similar to the beco. its just that my beco stays in the car and i like that fabric print better. :)

I had the kelty country carrier a few years ago, and would recommend when using it to tighten the waist belt and the arm straps because then most of the baby/toddler's weight is around the hips.

I was able to carry heavy toddler around for a long time when waist belt pulled nice and snug.

great carrier, and comfy for baby.

Hmmmmm....ok you all are scaring me a bit with the "don't take it to Disney!" ;) We have tried an Ergo and another (can't remember the name) carrier that was similiar to the Baby Bjorn but for larger kiddos. Brady HATED it. With the Ergo, he hated facing my body - even on my hip - and cried the whole time on my back. :confused3 He isn't walking, so any of the harness-type things just won't work, unfortunately.

I completely understand how this will be very bulky....but....if it entertains my 1 year old and keeps him happy for a few hours once he starts to crank in his stroller (like for watching parades, etc...).....I think I will like it. Or maybe not? I will have to post an update once I get back!! I just hope DH is comfortable wearing it!!

i guess as long as you have a plan for carrying it around when hes not in it. i know i tend to carry enough junk with me that lugging around yet another item (even though its only 10 lbs or so but it is bulky) would just drive me nuts i think.

We did NOT use the Beco when just walking around. Ds stayed in the stroller for that. We only used it when he needed to sleep. If he was awake and didn't need to nap, he would never want to be in any kind of carrier (Beco or Kelty) but when he is tired... I just put him in the front carry and he's out in less than 5min!

HTH some?
