Any review on Pat O'Briens?

Restaurant or bar?

The restaurant is alright, not spectacular. Vague New Orleans theme to the food, but also burgers and what-not. Service is often kind of slow.

The bar--meaning the piano bar--can be a lot of fun, or it can be dead. It really depends on the crowd. It's smaller than Jelly Rolls and Howl at the Moon, the two other dueling piano bars in town, which gives it a more intimate feel. You really do interact with the piano players. The show tends to be a lot cleaner than Howl, a bit more risque than Jelly Rolls. The fruity specialty drinks are good, but expensive; then again, they're powerful, so maybe money well-spent.

BTW, there is also a small sports bar across the hall. It's just that, a small sports bar, nothign else to say about it.

:thumbsup2 We've done Pat O'Brien's dueling piano bar three times now and have enjoyed it every time.

Been a couple of times. It,s around 8 or so(from what I can remember)..
When the crowds are low, they seem better.M/O only:thumbsup2

I kinda like O'Brien's. The food is excellent for the price point and the dueling pianos concept can be great fun if you're going with a bunch of friends who've had a few drinks.

You can read my complete review here.

If you enjoy drinking and being around drunks, then its a TOTAL BLAST!!! :thumbsup2

If you do not enjoy these things, then you might want to go somewhere else.

Thanks.
What time do the piano players start?

Generally a single player starts around 6:00, keeps things low-key. Dueling pianos start at 8:00, and the bar goes 21+ and they really move up the energy level around 9:00.

You must have a hurricane there!:thumbsup2
and there's another drink called a Skylab that's really good too

Thanks.
We have been to the Pat O's in New Orleans (12 years ago) and had a hurricane then.
Prob time I had another one!

I don't like it nearly as much as the one in New Orleans, but I may be biased (lived a block and a half from that one for four years). It feels like a knockoff that they "almost" got right.

That said, if you're not hyperfamiliar with both locations, I think you'll really enjoy it. The hurricanes are great, the dueling pianos are fun, and the people watching is always entertaining. The food is pretty good as well.

Is there a cover charge for the dueling piano bar at Pat O'Brien's like at Jelly Rolls, or can you wander in for free and just order a drink?

That depends upon when you arrive. Pat O'Brien's, like other Citywalk bars, has a cover charge after a certain time, which is usually 9pm for most Citywalk bars.

A Citywalk Party Pass will let you in for free. You can either buy a Citywalk Party Pass or receive one free if you purchased a multi-day theme park ticket.

Because we're annual pass holders, we don't receive the free Party Pass so we usually arrive at the Piano Bar between 7pm and 7:30pm, before they start charging.

We are Premier pass holders, so I wonder if it's included in our Premier passes. If I remember correctly, we have free admittance to some of the Citywalk clubs that have an entrance fee.

But it sounds also like what you're saying is that if you enter before there is a charge, you can stay as long as you like, even after the fee kicks in?

Yes, that is correct.

Additional info: I just looked at the Universal Studios website and it states for premier passholders:
