Am considering staying at one of the resorts the end of August. We have never been to any of them. Do any of them have a food court similar to Disney where you can either sit down or take something quick to go?

Thanks.:confused3

There aren't any food courts, but there are some places you can get some quick food. You can get some decent quick food at the pool bars and also get to-go from some of the restaurants. Which resort are you looking to stay at?

And if you don't find what you want at the hotels - Citywalk and the parks are just a short stroll away.

We haven't decided which resort yet! We are open to any and all suggestion!
Thanks for the info on the food choices.

The end of August has light crowds and the hotel prices should drop. Try the HRH for the shortest walk to the parks. That way you could walk over to Citywalk and pick up something quick.

What can you get quick at Citywalk? I know the resorts are lacking in this area. We are used to food courts at Disney; I'm surprised that Universal hasn't caught on to this idea. That's the only thing I don't like about the USF resorts.

Do the deluxe Disney hotels have food courts? Universal doesnt have any value hotels so no food courts. Still, they do have plenty of places to grab something quick. Remember Universal is easy access to everything. Each on-site hotel has a pool cafe that offers salads, burgers, chicken, nachos, things like that. Portofino Bay also offers a deli, gelateria, pizza parlor in addition to two other full service restaurants.

CityWalk has quick service windows where you can grab some food and not wait to sit. Latin Quarter comes to mind with a window and I believe there is one other service window.

Any place with quick (and good) breakfast food?!:)

Inside each parks entrance there is a bakery that serves fruit and egg sandwich platters. They also have lots of muffin, cookie, danish, croissant type things.

Pastamore at CityWalk has breakfast items that are quick and good. There is also a Starbucks, and a Cinnabon.

Each hotels has an area with quick breakfast items like cereals, muffins, bagels, coffee, tea, juices and other items. At RPR it is located off the lobby. At PBH its at The Gelateria and at HRH it is attached to the Ice Cream parlor along with a star bucks.

Pastamore also has pizza and pasta for lunch/dinner. You walk up, order your food, pay, pick it up, and there are tables outside to sit down. There's a Starbucks above it. On the upper level of Citywalk is a quick pizza place that sells thru a window. You could probably order a Burger and Fries to go from Nascar Cafe. Then you could walk around Citywalk to find an outside table, or sit on the wall (steps) near the boat dock. Here's my menu page, write down the phone numbers of each restaurant, then call when you arrive. I'm sure they won't turn you away, just tip a couple bucks when you pick up your order.

The other idea for quick food is to order pizza from Flippers.
Scroll to the middle of this page for the Flippers menu and phone number to call.

They'll deliver to the onsite hotel, you meet the driver on the side of the valet, tip the driver a few bucks. Onsite hotels also have pizza, but some get peeved when the hotel adds a service charge, so there ya go.

I think that Portofino is the best for quick food. Sal's Market Deli has great stuff for a counter restaurant.

We usually have Flippers delivered to the hotel a couple of times during our stay. We carry it down to the pool area and enjoy a nice cheap dinner while relaxing :beach: . Many times people will come up to us and ask us where we got the pizza. We have even gone to Flippers and eaten there once. They do delicious pasta dinners too.

All of Disney's Deluxe hotels have a quick service that I'm aware of. Beach Club/ Yacht Club and the Boardwalk don't have true food courts, but you can get quick, less expensive food to go.

We have only stayed at RPR. If we didn't feel like full service, we got "to go" from Jake's and ate at the pool or in the room. You just order from the bar. We got the Pu Pu platter several times. It wasn't fantastic food, but it was as good as WDW food court food. DH went down for coffee and rolls to the Orchid Court Lounge most mornings, as well. They had an outrageous macadamia breakfast roll that was to die for. :)

The beauty of staying on-site at Universal compared to Disney is that you don't have to eat like a Marine. With FOTL you can sit down and enjoy breakfast without worrying if you are going to beat the masses to the lines.

Thank you robvia and damo for the suggestions. This will be my first stay at PBH and I didn't even know there was a 2nd level to Citywalk! We always travel in the summer, so we don't like to eat outside at pool bars, and we probably wouldn't at Citywalk either.

As for Disney...both moderates and values have food courts. All the deluxes have areas for quick and inexpensive (relatively) meals - I guess they aren't food courts per say. They are also inside and air conditioned.

Everyone has their own opinion. I'm not bashing Universal because I don't like their food options. The CM (or whatever they call them) at the RPR also commented to me that they don't have a lot of quick options when I asked where we could eat. He told us about a great pizza place about 10 minutes away (real NY style pizza) that we have eaten at several times since.

I'm going to check out Flippers too.
