Any Reformed FP- Uber Users Who Have Embraced FP+ ?

For the OP's question: I too am an admitted FP- superuser. I am also extremely good looking and well built. My family and friends are amazed at my Disney skills ...and Ninja skills.

As far as applying this to FP+ can't help ya - not used it yet!! I'm sure that when I do use FP+ I will command it as I do everything with top notch efficiency and catfish like reflexes!!

Thank you, thank you very much!!

The problem I see is that now you may be able to ride a headliner at RD without a wait, but the FP+ line starts forming immediately, so SB for a second ride is possible, but the wait may be substantial.

Smart users know to use the first hour FP at the end of the first hour window so that they can ride standby without waits, then use their FP when it gets busier. Also lots of people come late or sleep in and actually miss their first hour or two of FP. With legacy of course, people actually had to be in the parks to get their fp's, so most used their fp's. I rarely saw anyone using FP during the first hour on many rides with FP+.

I have not been back to WDW since before FP+ (getting my Disney fix at DLR). What I have been waiting for is starting to happen. Returning WDW vacationers are coming back with hints and tricks on how to effectively use the system. It also appears that the system itself is beginning to work the kinks out. Keep it coming folks!

you are so fortunate. But really, you can go to WDW anytime you wish throughout the year. So if you miss out on some attractions, there's always next time and that could be tomorrow, if you wanted.
I go to WDW for 5 days a year if I'm lucky. So missing attractions and leaving the parks at midday is not very appealing.

Well yes, that's true...but I would like to point out, that my stating I am a local who goes often, was really just to highlight that I have a lot of experience with touring the parks...and with that experience, I can testify that RD, paired with later FP's really DOES work! My family does it all the time! This directly correlates to the OP stating that they read the RD is no longer useful. If you don't wish to leave in the afternoon, you really don't have to...we stay sometimes, and there is still tons to do. Yes, it does get busier and lines get longer. Actually, when we choose to stay, we often use the afternoons to take in the shows! My post was merely addressing that for the headliners and getting to ride everything (multiple times even) with no waits, in our experience, early morning RD followed by our FP+ selections really is pretty fantastic! That is why we have decided we like FP+! :goodvibes

There's a good reason for that. Legacy FP didn't start return times until 40 minutes later.

The Scenario: We stay at a WDW resort for 6 nights in the summer. We use as many EMHs as possible (morning and night) with afternoon breaks. We are not afraid to hit multiple parks in a day. For example, with a morning EMH in AK, we would be done with everything by 1pm at the latest. We would then break and take in another park in the evening. When would you suggest using the
FPs, right before leaving for break, or when we return in the evening? On a side note, where and when (if even possible) can someone practice with FP+ and a smartphone?

No you must hate FP+ before even using it, haven't you kept up on the boards?:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

In your case, considering you have access to EMH AND plan to leave the parks after lunch, I would absolutely use those Fp's for your evening return! You will be able to pretty much do all you wish to do with the EMH and low crowds in your park of choice before lunch and then will be able to use your fps for headliners or whatever you wish for your evening park! :thumbsup2

Cannot speak for they poster---

But our strategy is typically to have FP lunch or later. We don't always do this, but we do lean that way. So in an example of morning EMH followed by a park hop fairly early in the afternoon, I would keep my FPs for the second park.

As for smartphone--what do you mean?
For us--had no issue managing MDE via our phone and monitoring FP of switching them around. At this time, the 4th FP must be done at a kiosk

As for "practice", you cannot do anything regarding FP+ without an active ticket linked. Then you are limited to the booking windows.

Yes, I realize this.

Sorry, what I meant to say was......I rarely saw anyone using FP during the first hour on many rides with FP+.

The biggest fear I have is setting up and managing the FP+ system. As an old time high school teacher, my answer is to do homework to practice before actually using the system. I believe I am not one to micro manage the system, IE-constantly trying to change times to get that perfect slot. I would not set up much dinning (one sit down a day, during afternoon break). Even given all this, the initial set up worries me.

No need to worry! You just choose which 3 attractions you wish to ride and the system will give you 4 different options for times. Select whichever set is closest to the time you will be there and THEN you can go back in and modify each fp for specific times so you can be sure they are after dinner, or whatever you schedule dictates. Also be sure to try and make them for the allowed minimum of an hour apart too so that you can limit the waiting around for next fp as much as possible! It's really very simple, I promise! :goodvibes

I was really worried about this too. My sister, my daughter, and I all stayed up until midnight on our 60 day mark with three laptops open and primed and ready to go and I was literally nauseous. It was stupidly easy. And we have 11 people. We were done by 12:05. And then we changed our minds over and over before our vacation and quite easily were able to change things (other than the BIG things like 7 Dwarves) even securing Anna and Elsa within the 30 days that non-resort guests get.

We had no glitches with our initial set-up and once I calmed down, it was really fun for us to daydream and plan.

Our only glitch came after we were at the parks getting our 4th (&5, 6, 7th) fps in park with my nephew. For some reason I could get him the extra fp at the kiosk but I couldn't change him on my MDE. My sister could, but I couldn't. I also couldn't get his photos from his MB on my MemoryMaker. We finally went and had my sister and my accounts synced and then it worked.

Anyway, don't worry. If you aren't going Christmas, New Years, Easter, or July 4th you can get what you want initially and it isn't that hard.

If you buy your tickets earlier, you can link them and practice.

So say your trip was in May, if you bought your tickets in January or Feb, you can practice within a 30 day window. Just make sure you cancel what you do before your real window opens up.

Rope Drop (especially morning EMH) is still your best strategy. You'll still get more done in that 1st hr than at any other time of day. Spring Break crowds start to really build around 11, so use your FP accordingly. Do not count on getting a 5th FP, you'll prbly get a 4th. And keep in mind, while you have to go to a kiosk to get that 4th FP, you can change it on your phone. Get that 4th FP no matter what it is, i did & was able to change it later for a ride I wanted. Remember, other people's plans change all the time, you never know when a ride opening will pop up.

Curious how you pulled rides with very close windows given the parameter of waiting for a FP to expire or for the blackout time to pass before getting a new pass. Was it a very slow day?

I guess they weren't really busy days but if you look closely at the times, my new fast passes would be 5 minutes after my older fast pass window opened.

I would be standing at a FP kiosk inserting our tickets over and over right at the minute (was mostly 5 minutes early and would kinda stand around and try over and over until my time was perfect) my next FP window would open.

Then, we would use all of them back to back later on that evening. We had 6 sets of Expedition Everest tickets at one point, just went on it over and over again.

We r 2 seniors went every year for at least the past 25. Since fast pass+ we no longer go. We dont have all the modern gadgets like Iphones, tablets etc.So for us it is almost impossible to make these ressies. How would we keep track of it. We dont stay on property as we usually go for 4 to 5 weeks. I understand the concept of it but we dont have the tools to implement it.
So unfortunately we see no other choice than to stop going.

Do I expect anyone to know me well enough?
No.

What I do expect is that you not make assumptions of someone you don't seem to know well as you admit to have done here and then draw the false correlation that FP+ is enjoyed only because of those assumptions.

hahahaha, this is just hilarious, she didn't make an assumption, YOU posted indicating exactly what she said.

That's like me posting. "Man I hate the colour blue"

Then someone saying "Shaden does not like the colour blue"

Then me getting all upset "How do you know I don't like blue ? Why would you post something false ? Why are you making assumptions?"
