Any recs on a child's clock?

We have a 3 year old and want to get a clock for two purposes. First, one to help her learn how to tell time. Second, something so she can tell it is only 4:30 am and she needs to go back to sleep without me or DH having to go in her room. So, does anyone know of a clock that would help with this? I thought I saw one once that had a face broken up in different colors to help with telling the minutes, but now that I'm looking I see nothing. I realize this is a little "off topic", but everyone seem so helpful here, that I'm hoping someone else may have a product they can recommend.

Santa brought my daughter a digital clock from Target. It looks like a pink castle, and has a radio/alarm on it (which we don't use.) The fun part is, that the tower turrets (at least I think that's what they're called ), can be turned on to shine rotating 'star's onto the walls & ceiling. My daughter goes to sleep looking at the 'stars' every night. And...I like to think of it as the fireworks over Cinderella's castle.

Here in England you can buy a Bunny Clock. You set it so that when the child goes to sleep bunny closes his eyes and lowers his ears I think. You set the time that it is acceptable for bunny to wake up and he opens his eyes and lifts his ears. That way the child knows that when bunny is awake he can get up, when bunny is asleep it is too early. Not sure if that makes sense....

Other people I know buy a decorative lamp and put a timer on it so when the lamp is on the child is allowed to get up.

DD has that clock too! She loves it - especially the stars on the ceiling!

I think you can only buy the Bunny Clock online in the UK, I have never seen it in the shops.

Here's what we did when DD was little. She thought that if it was light out, it was time to wake up. In Northern NY, it is light before five in summertime! I just bought a regular digital clock. Then, I taped over the minutes. We had been working on numbers, so she knew a seven. I told her that when her clock said seven, it was time to get up. (Tape over the minutes, so no one is getting up at 2:37am!) To this day, over five years later, she still doesn't get up until 7! (We did uncover the minutes a couple of years ago!) I had read this idea somewhere and it worked like a charm!! Good luck!

Not a clock but a watch. I found a talking watch at FAO . It will tell the time as well as display it (analog), tell you the temp, and you can set it to cuckoo every hour. Our son kept asking us what time it was so I got it. Only thing is that the analog time set is easy for him to change. The other buttons are recessed so he cant push them and change the time on it (you have to manually set the analog and speaking time separately.

I have a regular digital clock in my DS' room for just this reason. He's been able to tell time from a digital clock from the time he was about 2.5-3, and we agree what time he gets up in the morning. I'm gradually trying to make it later and later. We started out with 6:30 and are now up to 6:50. Just beware, make sure you get a clock that's not easy to change the time on. The first clock I got him you didn't need to hold two buttons down to change it like most, and he would just change the time and make it later.

I don't have any suggestions for a clock, but I can tell you what we did with our early riser...

DD would be up anywhere between 4:30am to 6:00am thinking it was time to get up. DH and I put a nightlight in her room on a timer set for 7:00am. At 7:00 the timer would turn the nightlight ON. DD learned in 1 or 2 mornings that if the light wasn't ON it wasn't morning yet and not time to get up. Worked like a charm and we still use it to this day (she's almost 5) although her internal clock is now set to 7:00am.
