We are sailing on the Fantasy in less than 2 weeks (and only booked about 9 days ago!)

I'm wondering about booking excursions for G. Cayman. We have 2 small children, ages 6 and 2, and the 2 yr old limits what we can do (bc many activities are 3 and up, athough he'll be 3 in a month).

Anyway, I can't find an excursion that I find really works for our family. We'd love to play and swim on Seven Mile Beach (but not for more than 2 hours at most) and check out the turtle farm since my 6 yr old would love that. Any activities with animals really. And explore some of the shopping.

Is there any way that we can do this on our own? Or does anyone have any non-DCL tour recommendations?

I know it's recommeded to book excursions with DCL, especially with this being our 1st ever cruise, but with everyone saying how safe Grand Cayman is, I wonder if it wouldn't be best for us to approach it another way. TIA!

GC is safe, the main issue is you tender in there - that's by smaller boats, it adds about thirty minutes.

I do private tours in every port, bar one, that's GC, as the tendering is an unknown time factor. DCL tours get priority off, so personally, think of that first.

When off Seven mile beach is easy to get to by taxi, and you can see the ship from it.

Hi, if you do private tours in every port - do you have a recommendation for Falmouth?

Once you get into the terminal area (and just outside) in Grand Cayman there are loads of options for tours and activities. With a lot of them you can tell them what you want to do/ where you want to go/ how much you are willing to pay/ how long you have and they will work something out. Ive gone to the turtle farm which is good fun for all ages and only needs a couple of hours if you want to do other things too.
Theres quite a few shops as you get off the ship and along the main road (as long as its not a Sunday).

On Grand Cayman, we are doing a private charter with Ebanks Watersports. If you book a private tour, they will tailor it to your needs.

In Falmouth, we got day passes to the Royalton White Sands and hired Jamrock Journeys to drive us back and forth.

We also did the day pass at the Westin in GC. It was nice with young kids to be able to go to the beach and still retreat to our room for some rest. Their beach was nice and we used the pools and ate in the restaurant too. It is not a super fancy resort set up (i.e. the pool is pretty basic), but it was an easy day.

By far the best excursion that I have done is the island marketing wave runner stingray city excursion. You meet at the blue iguana and get a van to a resort. You get on a wave runner and go out about 8 miles to stingray city. You hang out with the stingrays then go to either rum point or starfish point. Either are great. Then ride the wave runners back to the resort and change then back to port. By far the best time.
