Any recommendations for somewhere to eat in/near Folkestone?

Hi folks

Could anyone recommend somewhere cheap and cheerful in Folkestone, for a Sunday evening meal? We're staying at the Holiday Inn, but are happy to have a pootle away from the hotel in the evening. Not McDonalds etc, I imagine we'll be eating enough of that sort of thing over
our holiday.

Hopefully nothing too expensive (want to save the pennies for DLP!), perhaps something like a fish and chip restaurant?

Not sure of any fish & chip places in Folkstone, there used to be loads many years ago but it has all changed.

If you are staying in the Holiday Inn Express it has a restaurant. I stayed at one for 6 weeks whilst we only had breakfast there the evening meals looked good value.

Failing that if you go a bit further up to Ashford there will be plenty of places to eat.

I had the same question as yourself and so have looked into my options, the best I seem to be able to find is a local Tesco with a restaurant in Ashford other than that Im considering hunting down a Subway as I know I have plenty of salad on miine so I feel relatively healthy afterwards but also we are staying in the Folkstone Travel Inn and in the restaurant attached they do 2 meals for £11 before 6pm so we are hoping to get there before this time.

There is a Brewers Fare (I believe it's called that) next to the hotel, so that is somewhere to eat other than the hotel restaurant. Also, Tontine Street (by the harbour) had a fish and chips shop There is one at the bottom of Black Bull road which is just up from where you are staying too, so it might be nice to grab some and sit along the sea wall There are a few "fast food" places like kebabs shops too, but I don't trust them

If you want a lot of choices, as mentioned Ashford has loads (whether you eat in town - Indian, Chinese (buffet and table service), Italian, Pizza hut (though Folkestone also had a Pizza Hut and eat-all-you-can-chinese) fish and chips, pub meals) or there is a lovely Harvester that I could recommend (I could eat there everyday lol).

So it's just a case of deciding what kind of food you would like and go from there

You just might have tempted me with the Harvester!!! I love the salad bar and dont come away feeling all greasy and fat!

Think this is what Ill look for when we get there! Its one way to get salad in the kids before we head to burgerandnuggetland!!!
