New here; bear w/ me;) .

Anyone statyed here recently? This is the one on Florida Plaza Blvd, near Old Town. I got a reservation for $54/night through FreeHotelGuide.com (anyone ever used them??? This is my first time w/ them). From what little I can find, it sould like a nice place. Opened 2/2000, so not too old.

How's the "free" breakfast? How's the noise? It's not right on the road, but it is next to Old Town. That's noisy w/ carnival rides, right? I've only been to WDW once, and that was back in '83, and we did not get around much (was with marching band). How are the rooms - need renovating yet? What abt shuttle service?

I was hoping to get a room at the Quality Suites MGE w/ my Entertainment card at 50% off (would have been $45 based on their $89.95 rack rate on their website), but the rate she gave me was $67.96, so that's out. It's just my sis and I on the trip (10/4 - 10/10), and we want an inexpensive but CLEAN place to cook some food (need micro/fridge) and lay our head.

Any insight on this hotel would be greatly appreciated. Or, if you can recommend something as good or better for that price or less, that'll be OK, too!

I promise to post a review when we get back, 5 months from now

TIA!

We stayed at Comfort Suites Maingate East last year in June.
The place still looks like it is new. We had two queen beds and a pull out bed. We had a couch, desk, small table, micro, small refridgerator, and a safe in the room. Our room was very quiet because our room was in back on the third floor with a pool view.
The breakfast buffet was really good. Don't expect home-cooked meals, but there was a large variety of cereals, muffins, donuts, fruit, etc. Everything was very fresh, and the dining area was very clean. The pool and hot tub area is very nice, but the pool is not very deep. This was a disappointment to my teenage boys.
I think the deepest end was approx. 5ft. There is a big crowd at Old Town on weekends. They had car shows, and many activities going on while we were there. The only reason we are not staying there this year is that we opted to rent a house for more room, and a private pool. I hope this helps a little!

Where is this hotel? I can't picture it. We have stayed at the Day's Inn right by Old Town twice recently. I can't seem to remember a Comfort Inn though. We want to go to a different hotel for our next trip in October but we like the area by Old Town.

I am horrible with the name of streets so I will try to give you directions. There is a road that runs between the Holiday Inn Maingate East and the Days Inn. Comfort Suites Maingate East sits approx one block behind the Holiday Inn. If you are driving down 192 you can see the top of it as you drive by. The parking lot of the Comfort Suites actually faces the back of old town. You can also see a Pirates Miniature Golf place from the parking lot as well. I would not hesitate to stay there again. We just needed a little more room. If you do a search on MSN map it, you can get more specific directions. The address is 2775 Florida Plaza Boulevard. Last year we got a really great rate of $49.99 including taxes through www.hotelmartusa.com.

Deidre is correct. The road beside the Days Suites is Holiday Trail. You turn there, and then take a left on Florida Plaza.

There is a place on Holiday Trail, Tropical Palms, that gets good reviews. It's like a little resort. They have cottages and rent out RV spaces. For the time I will be there in October, I believe the rate for a 1 BR cottage was like $59. The cottages are really little manufactured homes. I saw pictures, and it looks really cute. My sis doesn't want to go higher than we have already, so it is our for us.

Awesome place - Tropical Palms!! Stayed there in Sept. of 2001 and absolutely LOVED it!!! No phones in the cottages though, so if you're a "phone" person, you might want to bring your cell. There are pay phones both inside and outside of the office/store though..

Have fun!!;)

I didn't relaize there were other hotels back behind the Holiday Inn. We have stayed at the Days Inn right there, the first time was fine, the next wasn't so good. We really like that specific area though. It is nice and close to Disney, stores, restuarants, and we like to walk around Old Town some evenings. I will definetly check them out for deals.
