Hey there,

Would love any recent info on the DPlan as far as restrictions, pooling of child and adult credits, biggest bang for the buck ... etc.

As things seem to change a lot where this plan is concerned I would like to kinda know what is going on when I leave in 3 weeks!

Thanks

We loved the dining plan. We did have 1 child, but never did concern ourselves about what we ordered. I was very worried that most of the kids meals would be corn dogs or chicken nuggetts, but each resturant seem to have something that was unique to the resturant and something my DD would eat. There was only a few places where they made of point of telling us to order her a childs meal and others said we did not have to get a child's meal for her that we could order what we want.

Best value..

50's primetime in MGM. The gave us speciality drinks with glowing cubes with our meal and did not charge extra (maybe a mistake), but plenty of food and good deserts. YOu willl not need to eat for days after going here.

Le Cellier (Canada) in Epcot. Definately well work the visit and one of my favorites. A lot of food for the money (or the 1 credit). They also offer steak on the child's menu. Just make sure you specific how to have it cooked or they will cook it Med Well (Yuck).

Watchout
If you are dining with other parties and using multiple cards, make sure you check your cards and your credits after each time. We had a problem a couple of times. 2 familes with the same last name and at Alfredo's the server told us we had to let him know ahead of time that we were going to be spliting the credits it took about 1/2 hour to straighten out. That was our first TS meal and when we mentioned it at the start of other restuarants they all said just bring it up when we get the check. At CRT, all of the sudden we were down 4 credits and that was a shock and the server insisted that he only taken off 3 credits and we needed to have our previous receipt to show where we were. At the front desk of our hotel we figured out that, he had used our inlaws card to take our 3 credits and gave us their receipt and we got their receipt which had few meals on it. The front desk straighten it all out. They are very good to make sure this sytem works out.

Have fun!

During my stay last week, as long as we told the server what we intended on doing, they were okay with it.

Credits were pooled so you could probably pay for the kid's meals and use the credits later for something else if you are so inclined.

We didn't do that. We did pay for a kid's meal at a couple of places, but also paid for our older child's adult dinner to save credits, not to use the kids for the adults.

We ate a lot and got what we wanted out of the dining plan and then some.

So are they not separting credits anymore. I had read that each person was maybe getting there own credits on their park ticket.

That is correct. It worked as currently described in the dining plan literature on the Disney site.

We had 6 nights of credits for each member (4) in our party.

24 TS credits
24 CS credits
24 snack credits

Any of our 4 park tickets could be used to claim a credit.

The tickets themselves say A03C01, but the credits were not differentiated.

I used the credits how I wanted. I paid for some, saving some for more expensive meals later on.

Just got back from Thanksgiving week. We used the dining plan, split meals with the family we were with. Not one single problem.

Disney has never done this, and no official publication or pronoucement has suggested it. Some people claim the "hear" it is changing, but no one has any first hand knowledge of it.. it's just rumours they hear somewhere else.

We went 2 weeks ago. No problems at all. I split 2 meals with my 8 y.o. and there were no issues. We had more than enough food! We had 22 snacks credits left the last day and 5 counter service left!!! More than enough and the servers will tell you what is ok and what is not. Some places really encourage the full use of the plan while others restrict what is ordered. We loved the plan and will be doing again - if it is offered again.

We ended up with 16 Snack credits and 5 counter services left over as well on our last day. We used the 6 counter services to pick up to go sandwiches for the planeflight home and then some nacho's to snack on while waiting for the ME bus. We still 2 CS left and the CM at the checkout said he would make something work for us, if we wanted to get a bunch of items to go, so we got more rice krispy treats. Some CM do go out of their way to make sure you spend it all... :earsboy:

We went in August and in November and used the dining plan both times.

The credits are still pooled.

The only change that I saw was that if you get a counter service breakfast on the plan you no longer get a dessert (i.e., at the Pop Century in August we could get a Cinimon roll with our breakfast - now you can't), but if you use your CS credit for lunch you can get a dessert (it makes no sense).

I also noticed that at some of the nicer restraunts such as Le Cellier and CRT there were some itmes that were no longer offered as part of the plan (surf and turf at Le Cellier, and the chocolate slipper dessert at CRT).

The dining plan is still a great deal and we really enjoyed having both times we have had it.

Oh, I did not know if that was true or not. I knew they did not do it when we went, but I thought maybe things had changed.

Don't let it upset you about the surf and turf at LeCellier - I got it in September and can honestly say I would have rather had a larger steak than the lobster. It was soooo small that I could not even get the meat out of it. I don't even think I got one bite out of 2 lobsters. I was really disappointed. If you want Surf & Turf go to Captn Jacks at Downtown Disney. It has gotten a bad rap in past on boards but we loved it sooo much that we rearranged our schedule so that we could eat there twice. Their crab cakes our out of this world!

I think the dining plan if fabulous! We would have eaten the same meals whether on or off the dining plan, and we figured out that we saved at least $60 (family of four) per day on food. One thing I might do differently in the future is this--we went for four days and three nights so we only had the dinning plan for 3 days--I would use only three CS meals for lunch each day rather than four on the first day. This would have saved us even more money, particularly considering the fact that I ususally only had a salad for lunch while the rest of the crew partook in the desserts for lunch.
