Does anyone have any recent photos of the construction at the Contemporary - by recent I mean no older than July

When we were at WDW last week, we rode by the construction site in the monorail. There was absolutely no visible progress beyond the pictures that have already been posted....the ground has been graded and there are the equipment cranes on-site. But nothing more than what we've seen posted on this site. So I didn't even bother to take a picture.

Guess it might be too hot for the contractors in mid summer down there. Thanks Granny!

It was hotter here in Indy today than in Orlando and there's construction going on all over the city. I think building is on hold until Disney finally decides once and for all what will be built at CR. JMO

I just returned last night from the Poly. I don't have any pictures, but I can tell you that there were several constructions workers on site. Sewer line was all around, cement trucks onsite, etc.

It looked to me like foundation would be commencing very soon.

Just poolhopped to the Contemp, this past weekend. The garden wing buildings on the MK side are completely gone. Right now it just looks like my kids' sand box: dirt and trucks.

This is a pan I threw together of pictures I took on July 5th. I posted it on another thread, but can't remember which one. As others have said, it doesn't look much different from earlier photos posted on the DIS. I do know that on July 8th they were pumping concrete through the large drills.

Sorry...I probably worded my comments wrong. There were trucks and people working there. I just didn't see anything other than the dirt, trucks and people and it looked like the last photo I had seen some weeks earlier. And a lot like MIDisFan's photo except there weren't as many vehicles on site when I went by.

Well if they are pumping concrete as MIDisFan said, I imagine they are preparing the foundations which are supposedly 70 feet deep according to the last filing.

That will take a while. There must be a lot of them to support a 13 + story building.

And there is a school bus in the shot. Must be a field trip. :)

okay the picture he posted shows a wall going up.

not seeing that wall in yours - is it there and I am just blind?

I'm not sure what part of the picture you are referring to, but I didn't see any walls being constructed while I was there. I'm not in the construction business but it seems like it takes forever to do site prep and foundation work and then the buildings go up rather quickly. I wouldn't go as far as to say a 13 story building will go up over night, but I think you will see more rapid progress once the foundation work is done.

Sorry spiceycat, I missed the your reply with the allears photo which you were referring to. It looks like those are walls are constructed of osb and wood studs. Might those be forms for pouring concrete. Maybe someone with construction knowledge will come along, but I can't imagine those wood walls being part of any permanent construction on that site. Or maybe my eyes are failing me and those aren't wood walls:rotfl:
