Hi! I am 11 years old and have gone on 2 cruises. one on the wonder(2day) and one on the magic(eastern 7day). I have been on the Banana Boat ride and The Golden Eagle Catermaran. In St Thomas I'm pretty sure I went to Meghans Bay(It's a nicceee beach). I can give opinions on some aspects of the cruise from my poit of view if you'd like and I'll answer any questions. Thankx!

Hi Danielle811! My DSs will be 9 & 11 on our next cruise, and I have been looking at both the Golden Eagle Catamaran excursion and banana boat ride as things they might enjoy. What did you like or not like about those two things?

Thanks!

My daughter will be 11 when we go in July. Did you spend alot of time in the lab or mostly on your own??

Hi~~!!!!
The Golden Eagle Catermaran was THE BEST!!! I forgot to mention that I went with my cousins and my sister on the 7day. On the catermaran you go to a tottally deserted island by a catermran(obviously..lol) On the catermaran there are "splash zones". These are nets wehere you WILL get wet if you sit on them. The farther foward you sit the more wet you get(my parents and aunt and uncle didnt even sit on the nets ;)). The crew members are very fun to be with. They give the adults the chance to help lift the sail and lower the sail and that was fun to watch. The ride is about 45 minitues but don;t worry you won't get bored. The serve drinks on the top and in the lower parts of the catremran there is food. We looked like we had just gotten out of the shower even before we got to the island! On the island they give a mini snorkeling demo(on the ship they give a very good one the day before you get to the first island I think) and then your off. When you climb down the steps to get off the boat the water is 3-4 feet( it might be deeper of shallower I'm not really sure) You swim or wade to the island after you get off. They have more drinks on the island and I think they had sandwiches. When you go snorkeling there is a crew member out in an inflatable throwing food in the water so the fish come out. The fish and coral is ok but defanitly plan on going snorkeling on CC. on the island there are probally going to be nude sunbathers becuase it is on the french side. Also the kids can jump poff the side of the catermaran where the water is 5-6 feet. The way back is not as wet as the way there.
The banana boat is alright. It was fun but not as wild as it is advertised. You have to wear a life jacket but its a comfy one. It is pulled by a jet ski and fits 8 or 10 people. There were 2-4 sharp turns but i guess it depends on the driver. One person fell of but the immedatly stop and let you back. they don;t joke around when it comes to that. They expect people to fall of though. A wistle is given to and adult in the back in case of emergincies.
Have a good time on your cruise!
(PS) sorry about any spelling mistakes!

I went on the ship with my cousins and my siter and we pretty much spent equal time walking doing things on the ship and in the lab. We liked doing things on our own rather than doing orginized activities. The lab was fun but often got crowded.
Have a good time on your cruise!

Thanks so much for all the information! It was very helpful to have the perspective from someone the same age as my boys.

It sounds like I should really try to interest my family in the Golden Eagle!

Danielle811-Thanks for posting and giving us your opinions,my sons will be 11 and 12 when we cruise in April and I am debating on the Golden Eagle Catamaran(you really made it sound fun) or the 12 Metre Regata(have you heard any good or bad info on this one) My boys also wondered what you remember as being some of the best things you thought the lab offered.Any other tips or info would be appreciated by them as well! Glad to have you on these boards,I think your posts are well written and informative, hard to believe you're only 11:cool:

Thankx for all the nice comments! I'm very very sorry to say I have never heard of the 12 Metre Regata. Is it another Catermaran? When we got off the ship I was tottally surprised about how many different catermarans there were. There are so many to pick from and I don't know how my parents picked ours but it sure was a good choice!
In the lab they have so many different activities and lots of free time to do what you want. I rememeber a couple of different things but I don't know if it's different every cruise. The lab only takes the kids swimming once. There is a private pool party at the mickey pool one night. Its before dinner starts. You meet in topsiders and they have a max amount of kids they will take. They do games and also let you just swim around. There is another activity late at night(o yeah, your boys should try staying at the lab like from 10 until its closed. Its really fun and you get unlimited time on the comouters if you kids like computers. me and the rest of the kids with me all stayed late one night and had a blast!) Tjis activitie taked you to the back of the boat where it is dark out and they tell stories of lost ships and things like that. its not scary but its lots of fun! On CC I didnt go to the lab on the 7day but i did on my first on which was a 3day. It was fun they have hoses and sand castle stuff and sports things. They didn't do alot of stuff that I liked except the whale dig but I didn't see a kids whale dig on the 7day just a family one. Go to a whale dig defanitly it is very fun!!!!!! The only thing is its not shaded so you probally will get hot after a while.
Here are some on my tips for kids.
1. Me and my cousins and mysister loved the jacozzis(sp?). The only thing is they are very crowded during the regualar day. I would suggest if you want to have them to yourself go after dinner. Just walk down to the jacozzis with your bathing suit on and nothing else(its acctpeted on the ship don't worry!). Bring your card to! They have towels there. We didnt bring anything else because we didnt feel right to leave all out stuff like out clothes and shoes any where else in the dark. There are lights so its not pitch black. They were usually empty!
2. If you havent thought of this already then defanitly do it. We all bought keychains on the boat(they were disney) We brought a hole puncher and punched holes in our cards(this is fine as long as you dont punch through the magnetic strip). We put the cards on the keychains and it was a great way to carry around our cards!
3. Go to Quarter masters(QM)!!!!!!! In QM(sorry im getting lazy and i don't want to type it out) they have a machine that lets you put 5 or 10 dollars on a card type thing. Bring 5 or 10s if your going to go here. We got 10 or 5 dollars every other day usually if we were good. Play Crazy Taxi!!! keep the cards so you dont have to get new ones.
4. If its really hot go to the drink machine. Its on the pool deck somewhere not sure where though. You can get a ice cold glass of water or jsut ice! We just ate ice usually .
5. Plutos has great food. If the parents are going to palo's one night the kids should just go to Plutos! They have great cheese burgers!!!
6. Don't miss the dinner at animatirs pallete when they do the show! You go here 2 times but they only do the show once! Don't miss and bring video if you want!
7. Really Really try not to miss the Charcter Breakfast! I almost didn;t go because i thought it as for little kids! Its not belive me. Whatever you do dont forget the camera!
8. On CC They have a water jungle gym. You have to swim out to it an the water is about 6 feet i guess. They have ripes to try and climb across and things. There is a lifeguard stationed out there at all times.
Thats all i can think of If there is any more I'l either post or Private message you!
