We have a friend who is deployed in Aghanistan and had his laptop died yesterday. He is financially in a tight spot . He will not be home until Oct.

Are there any programs out there that would send a free or cheap computer to a deployed soldier?

There is but for lack of financial support the waiting list is it got so long they do not take new people.

I think your best bet would be to get friends and family together to buy one. You can get a laptop pretty inexpensively now. If 20 friends/family members each chipped in $20 you would have $400.

His FRG should have already provided him & his family with info about financial support resources before he left. MilitaryOneSource.com is a great resource if for some reason he or his family doesn't know the info already.

We found a dell for $379 at Best buy. It will be on it's way to Kandahar Monday morning! Thanks all for your responses.
