Any problems with your dvc memberships?

[SIZE=6]Other than those like smoking/non-smoking, ha vs non-ha, are there any other problems that make your regret your purchase, or things you didn't realize about the membership when you joined that you only realized after?[/SIZE]

We are about to purchase and would like any opinions, thanks.

No real problems with us. A few minor annoyances but overall we have been extremely pleased. So pleased in fact, we have added on twice.

lol Tink - I just started paying for my first purchase and ALREADY have add on fever!

The only thing I would say is make sure you explore all the options available to you. There ARE very reputable resellers and Disney is also an excellent way to go - everyone's needs are different.

Also know that if you purchase through Disney, they will often offer incentives to add-on, so my ONLY self-gripe so far is that I would have only bought 150 points to being with and then added on the other 100 (we bought 250) when a good incentive rolled down the pipe.

Buy where you would be happy staying (as it will probably become harder and harder down the road to get into other resorts even during not so busy times.)

Finally ---- BUY NOW!!! The biggest regret I have heard from members without a doubt is "I wish I had done this sooner!"

there have been a couple of stays that have not been prefect - but nothing on this world is perfect.

No problems here except as pointed out countless times...NOT ENOUGH POINTS...It is addictive!

We originally bought with the intention to go every other year. That lasted one trip. As you can see we are going twice this year, and did an add on last year, and already thinking another add on might be a good idea. Of course my enthusiasm has been so infectous that my Mom and Dad bought, and so did my sister.

Speaking of incentives...someone posted that the new one being offered by DIsney can bring the purchase price per point down to $62 !!!!!
It can only be realized by renting all the 2004 and 2005 points out...but still, that is a significant savings isnt' it?

I want to know in case my contract doesn't pass ROFR, so if anyone here knows anything more please post!

PS: the only negative I can think of is this: at some point down the road, when there are not as many years left on the older DVC resorts....then the prices per point will most likely start falling. At that time, those of us who bought one BIG chunk of points might wish we broke it down into smaller contracts so that we could sell off some contracts before the prices dropped real low and maybe repurchased newer DVC resorts.

I realized that I need more points!
I didn't realize that resales were available through 3rd party agents.
I didn't realize that I may not get to stay at the other resorts at the 7 month window.

Other than that....no regrets yet.

ColoradoBelle- People all have crazy ways of figuring out the actual price per point if you would rent the points out-- That being said, 62$ per point is not out of the question at all- Here is an example:

I recently bought a resale of 150 points at BWV for 78$ per point- total price was 11,700.00.

But, It had 255 banked 03 and 04 points, and 150 05 points- So:
I could rent all 405 of those points at 10$ each, for a total of $4,050-
Subtracting that 4050 from the 11,700.00, leaves an actual price of 7,650
when divided by 150 points, actually results in a price of $51.00 per point-

Now this is a silly equation, but points out how some people do crazy math when the are telling you what the "actual price per point" is.
