Any problems going through security with liquid Amoxicillin?

I only need to bring down 2 days worth of the medicine and was wondering if airport security made a fuss of the large bottle with a small amount in it. Did they test it or take extra time to check it?

I'm thinking of putting it in a bottle I usually use for sunscreen that is small enough, but I don't know how clean I can get the bottle.

There will be no issue as long as it's less than 3 oz and fits in the quart sized plastic bag. Also, I think you can have them hand check medications much like they do baby formula.

The bottle is larger than 3 oz and they have done a chemical check on a bottle I had that was probably 4 oz but not marked. The bottle is big; it had a 10 supply in it.

I brought a regular size bottle with the pharmacy label in a Ziploc bag (as a former flight attendant I always bring medicines only in original bottles with label- especially going overseas). They tested it one time but I never have any issues. My daughter has been taking this medicine since she was 3 months old and she is 4 now. You shouldn't have any problems. You can always ask your pharmacy to blend a smaller amount with a label for travel too.

Prescription medicine in it's original bottle with the Rx label patient name that matches the passenger's ticket is fine. If it's for a lap baby, as long as you have the birth certificate where the name matches the Rx it would also be accepted.

From the TSA website:
Family Lanes
If you are traveling with small children or elderly adults, consider using the family lane to go through security with ease. Family Lanes, located at every security checkpoint, allow families and travelers with special needs to go through security at their own pace. Individuals carrying medically necessary liquids, gels, and aerosols in excess of three ounces will be directed to these lanes. So, if you are traveling with liquid medications, baby formula, or baby food, look for the signage with the green circle at each security checkpoint.

Also if it isnt too much of a hassel, get a note from the ped. saying that your child needs this medication. I am a diabetic and travel with insulin. I always have a letter with me stating that I need medication and it needs to be kept cool. I always show them the meds and cool pack ... 50% of the time I have had to show them the letter. Have a great trip!

It's a prescription, you have to have it so it won't be a problem. Keep it in the original container. If you don't want to mess with the cool pack (actually I didn't know it was allowed at all...) you can take an empty ziplock and get ice from a vender or flight attendent. I would also keep in original container so there are no questions. Just declare it (pull it out of the bag) before your stuff goes through the x-ray. We took liquid amox this past Dec along with 4 juice boxes and no questions were raised at all.

Contrary to what PPs have said, if the medicine is not in a container smaller than 3 oz do NOT put it in the 3-1-1 bag. Liquid prescription and OTC meds are exempt from the 3-1-1 rules and can be carried on in quantities larger than 3 oz., but larger containers should not go in the 3-1-1 bag. Pack the medicine in a separate bag or in a cooler with an ice pack (OK for meds but not in other circumstances), tell the TSA screener that you have the meds and follow their instructions.

That's right - ANY medicine does not count. I bring an entire carry-on for my son with liquid benedryl, a nebulizer with vials of meds for that, epi-pens, inhalers, etc.... Don't worry, and I'd keep it in its original container for safety. If it needs to stay cool, put it with a zip loc bag of ice, then toss the ice and get more right after going through security. Also, a carry on that's medical needs doesn't count as a carry on for the airlines :)
