Nearly got my WDW collection to 100% after a recent visit.

Just wondering does any one else here collect? (I have some spare pennies available to help others if required.)

:)

DD9 does, she's almost done with DL/DCA but we have not yet gone to the hotels to get those. She has 1 full book and the 2nd one is almost full.

I collect them! I've got one full book and a second one that is about half-full. Love them!

where do you buy the books? I checked ebay, I checked at wdw and couldn't find any. We only have 5 pennies but would like to do some more this time

We got our books at shops in DL. We found them on top of the pressed coin machines most of the time, they were $5.95 & $6.95 each.

Great!

If you are like me and thought collecting these a few years ago would not become addictive then don't look here www.presscoins.com hehe. Actually do look there is it great but it made me want to get them all haha which is hard considering I live in the UK. Last visit (two weeks ago) to WDW was 'planned' around getting the missing coins. Which actually was not a bad way of route planning the way around the parks.

I now have a few hundered of the pennies and over 10 books full. A same a small number of machines were out of order when I was there. I'm searching Ebay now to find them hehe.

Good luck all of you with your collections!!!

Yeah, they usually do have the books near the penny machines.

I know I found one a couple years ago at the store at Rafiki's Planet Watch.

My son just started his collection last week while we were in WDW! He got his book at The World of Disney in DTD. We did come across a few machines that were out of order and he was bummed. He's looking forward to getting more in May!

Hi all,
My 11 year old daughter collects the coins. She has almost all of them from WDW and the resorts. There are a couple she is missing because the machines were either out of order or have been removed. Here are a couple tips for newbies collecting:

1. if you go to customer service at any of the parks or resorts they can give you a detailed list of all the coins and where they are located on all of Disney property (parks, hotels, mini golf courses, etc...)

2. if you are wanting to go to the resorts and don't feel like explaining over and over again why you are driving into that resort, take the free Disney bus transportation either from the parks or Downtown Disney.

We have had soooo much fun collecting the coins. She collects not just from Disney but from everywhere we go, and family members bring her home coins from their trips as well.

Hi. I started collecting in Tokyo Disney resort back in '04 and have continued the tradition in HK resort in '07.

We're going to WDW around New Year's and I plan to collect again, though after realising that it CAN get quite expensive, I've decided to 'select' those I want to get from the awesome archive at http://www.presscoins.com/

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know or have pictures of what kinds of albums they sell at WDW (and also perhaps specifics like capacity, ability to hold park tickets, etc.)? Seems they don't have them at disneystore.com. It would be great if I know which one to get and where to get it beforehand.

Thanks!

All of the Disney Parks and Resorts sell the pressed penny holders. They don't hold many coins compared to the number of pennies at the parks, so it takes many holders for all the pennies. I don't have one of them in front of me so I can't tell you how many it holds. They are the basic coin holders that you can get from most anywhere, but of course they are Disney themed.
The other thing I think is frustrating is that there are different series of coins (such as Princesses or Villians) and the coins are numbered (such as 1 of 6), but the coins are scattered, so if you want the whole series you have to visit numerous locations. Hope you have a great trip!

My wife LOVES the pressed pennies. She says its for our daughter but I really know its for her. What we do is look for pennies pre 1982. These are solid copper (almost) then I use CLR to shine them up real nice before we press them. Then we write the date on the back with a sharpie. Maybe a little excessive but she really enjoys it.

So when you date the back of the penny are you dating it prepressing? How badly does that distort the date when it's pressed?

No, we date them after with a sharpie so we can go back and look at it later to remember where we were when we got them. Went through them the other night, kinda nice to think back on all of the fun.
