Any "Pooh" sized cruisers out there?

I would love to lose some of this weight, but have too much stress in my life right now to concentrate on that. On my last cruise ( Royal Carribean Feb 7) There were definately lots of pooh sized people both young and old, short and tall. I look past all that but noticed it because it made me feel more comfortable. I am happy to report that I did not need the life vest while snorkling in the ocean......pooh sized people float real well!!!!! In fact I could feel by backside getting a bit warm, I think it was sticking out of the water LOL!!!! I told my friend she would be able to spot me real easy, the one with 2 bumps sticking up, my head and rump!!! Another nice thing is in the shower you just have to soap the walls and spin.....presto you are done!!!!!! Shaving legs is a bit trickier though. I hope I did not offend anyone...... all in good fun. I have to admit I kept saying I would lose weight before I went, but it is easier said than done. I went anyway, and had a great time. Once in awhile I would be laying on the lounge chair thinking, "Oh, I am too fat to be here like this" but hey I had everything covered (2 piece suits left my wardrobe years ago, not to mention the teeny bikinis of yesteryear). No one is looking at you, they are having fun with their own families. I am sure walking with my daughter probably gave folks a chuckle as she is the perfect body for a 16 year old, and me, well lets put it this way, I am not so old that I have forgotten having her perfect body, but with age comes wisdom, and to most of us, also pounds.

Have fun and dont worry about being a "pooh". As long as we dont have to crawl through a rabbit hole, we will be just fine!::MinnieMo

Hubby recently lost 50 pounds and I lost 25 (I still have a way to go), but even before the weight loss, we have never felt uncomfortable on a Disney cruise. I've run around in a swimsuit, used the pools, hot tub, and Rainforest, and had massages and treatments in the spa. I've seen plenty of other pooh sized people, including some who were quite a bit larger than me, and they seemed to be having a great time too. I don't think anyone worries what anyone else looks like because everyone is having such a good time. You can see pics of hubby and I on my website.

Hi Barb,

What types of treatments have you done in the spa? I would give anything for a back massage but I have always been much too self conscious. How "covered up" do they keep you?

I'm with you on that one KAMLEM! I also would like to know which sopa teatment she did and exactly how much they did cover up!

I kinda looking forward to the automated spin and wash shower too! Sounds fun!;)

Kamlem,
I have done lots of massages, as well as the seaweed wrap/massage combo, Ladies Night, and the Absolute Face & Body (in short, almost everything they offer!). They are very good at making sure you are comfortable, and they cover you with a sheet at all times and hold it over you when you roll over. I have chatted with many of the therapists, and they have said that they deal with all body types. They are very professional and will make sure that you have a great treatment. Hubby and I are spa fanatics and would never let our size get in the way of it!

Thanks, Barb. Maybe I'll be daring this time and try it out. I have a bad back that aches 24 hours a day and nothing would be better than a massage!

I just have to say this as it has been SO great for DH and I.. (and I hate to excercize) we bought a Gazelle, no not the expensive one, we tried it out at "Dicks Sports )" (don't even get me started on that name :) ) anyhow we bought the unexpensive one at Walmart for about $95.00 inlcuding tax. It is completely NON impact... I have been able to "run" at 6.5 miles an hour with no pain, I just love it, Both of us have lost a bunch of inches but no weight.. figure that one out.. maybe we need a new scale... anyhow it looks really weird but it is so easy so if you want to trim down some or just breath better I would highly recommend one...
BTW I still got massages when I was at my largest,, they are not paid by the inch (the massouses) but by the hour... I was a beautiful fat woman and I am a gorgouse plump one... :)

I've always wanted to try one of those gazel things- but too afraid I'd do the splits and wouldn't be able to get back up!! And- thanks to other posters here and all that we have in common, I'll bet I'm not the only one with that nightmare!

I too am a POOH...aka BBW(Big Beautiful Woman) and I feel completely at ease on our cruises.

If you were a size 2...there would be someone smaller..
If you were a size 222...there would be someone bigger..

Most of us feel we need to lose some weight...I surely do...but I'm healthy, happy, I have a great family, a great group of fire department people I work with, great DIS friends, and other good friends....the only thing I dislike about being a BBW is that in the area where I live..it's hard to find clothes that don't look like old lady clothes.

GO...enjoy your cruise and don't worry about it.....
