We are camping for the first time at the Wilderness Campground in January of next year. Any pointers that you can share with me?
Carrie, welcome to the DIS.
I'll start with some generalities and maybe you can help us narrow them down and we can get you some more specific advice.
Don't know where you're coming from to camp at the Fort (someplace with lots of snow in January or not) but January is the coolest month weather-wise in Orlando and can have a wide variety of weather. Some days can be sunny and beautiful and some can be wet and cold. So if you're coming from a snowy spot, that's probably still okay.
We like the Fort for its laid back attitude. You might meet more neighbors at the Fort than you would in a Disney resort. Leave some time to hang at the Fort and enjoy its amenities.
How will you be camping? Tent, trailer, RV or what? What type of site did you reserve (Partial, Full, Preferred, Premium)? Do you have your own tent/trailer/rv or will you rent a unit? Do you camp at home at all?
How many folks in your group? Will you have a car or are you flying in and using DME?
