Any Pixie dust/Random acts of Kindness at Disneyland?

DLR always feels magical to me. We've always had pleasant interactions with CM's. One trip in particular, we were going to have to skip PP, the line was over 60 min. So we got on the carousel instead. As soon as we walked off the carousel, a CM greeted me and said "would you like to ride Peter Pan right now?" and escorted us thru the exit of the ride to board it immediately. Made my trip! I love that ride! And I've witnessed CM's doing this to other families in Fantasyland on other trips too.

These are all the stories that I love to hear. It is the little things that can be done in order to make the trip that much more magical. I can't wait to just experience the magic in itself. To go during a magical season, to a magical place, things have to be amazing!:woohoo::yay:

I personally think these Random acts of kindness are less magical if you show up expecting them.

Funny how that works, huh?

OP: Disneyland is filled with magic. However, if you are hunting for it, you may just walk right by it when it attempts to land in your path. Disneyland is truly a magical place, every day, in its own way, to different people.

- Dreams

Look - I think that some have misinterpeted what I said. I do not go "hunting" for magic. I do not feel entitled to "free stuff". I just said that while I was there for the very short time - I did not see anything special. While at WDW - I saw or overheard many interactions and was on the recieving end a couple times. I can only base my options on what I saw. I really just wanted clarification that DL is magical. I love to hear people's stories of pixie dust and what was special to them.

In some ways - yes I do expect a higher level of customer service. However, Disney has made me that way. That is why I am such a devoted consumer of their product. That is why there are boards such as this completely devoted to Disney. Last time I checked, there where not boards devoting love to Walmart (okay - well maybe the people of Walmart, but not the service ;))

I get to go to DL in a few days with my family. I am super excited and have high hopes that what I saw for that day was a fluke. I saw lots of non-interested CM's and the construction was such a bummer - I know, neccessary evil.

You may not see them right away, but there's random acts of kindness everywhere. Last year I lost my room mate and her daughter when we were doing the preferred seating for WOC. They let me in the handicapped area and the CM at the entrance realized I was solo. She kept me company as long as she could and chatted to me. May not sound much, but for me it was definitely magical.

"Thanks" to losing my friend again I was solo at Toontown Morning Madness. On my birthday. (Thanks friend...) One of the CMs with Goofy saw my badge, got Goofy over for me, took my camera and started a very special birthday photo session. I felt like I was on a VIP tour.

Or the CMs at Buzz Lightyear. I love the ride, and the Anaheim version is so much better than the Paris one for me. So my friend and I pretty much spent all morning running around in circles just going on the ride again and again for days. Finally one morning we were about to get off and the CM at the exit recognized us and offered: "You're my frequent flyers, you can go again. Just get off when you get bored."

Those are the kind of stories I love to hear. Thank you for sharing.

That is how I feel. That is why I keep going back.

Many of these stories you would never know about unless they are happening to you, Until the Dis I was unaware about such policies like replacing popped balloons or fallen ice creams. I think the most meaningful pixie dust moments are under the radar (like the sick child and soup) and not public displays. Just because you didn't see something doesn't mean it's not there. I've had pixie dust moments and my DH standing 5 feet away was oblivious until I told him what the CM did. So OP don't expect to see it, just know it's happening. :wizard:

I try and make it a goal to make someone else's day on my trips, last October I was waiting in line to buy a light up Balloon for myself and there was a little girl with her dad beside me. She really wanted a light up balloon but her dad said she only had $10 left and not enough for the balloon. I paid for my balloon then gave the little girl $20 for her light up princess balloon that she really wanted :) It made me feel great knowing she got to get a special balloon and it made her smile. It always feels good to do something good for someone else.

Our last trip I stocked up on Disney silly bands to take with us. My kids had a mission everyday to make a kid that may be having a "not so magical moment" smile by sharing some silly bands.

That's a great thing to teach kids :) I think that everyone should make it a point to do something good for someone else while at the park. It just makes you feel so great to know you're helping someone else have a good day

This is an awesome idea and I totally think I'm going to do this for our Christmas trip! Thanks for the idea!

No problem! We took about 100 bracelets for a 2 week trip to WDW. And still came home with a ton. It was cute to see my 6 year old share princess bracelets with another little girl. She showed her what character each bracelet was as we sat waiting for the parade. They also shared with kids wearing birthday buttons and wished them happy birthday.

I was thinking it would be especially fun on Christmas Eve and Christmas for us. We'll be our own little Disney elves!

I experienced a small, but rewarding act the other week when my family went. We entered the park shortly after the fireworks ended, so a bunch of people were leaving. We ended up being stopped by a random person who gave us FOUR fastpasses for Space Mountain! We were totally shocked, since the lines were up to 90 mins at that point. So then to pay it forward, so to speak, we gave away our spare Haunted Mansion fastpasses to a couple passing by (whose eyes literally widened when we showed them the tickets). It was a pretty awesome experience, I must say.

The gift of giving!

On our first trip we let some kids get front row seats near us for the parade. We had more room than we needed so we let them up with us. A CM saw it and gave my DD, who was 8 at the time a special Tink pin.

Later in that trip we were waiting for Alice in all the switchbacks. There were some cousins who wanted to ride together. They had gotten split up and were far from each other. So I let the kid who was about the same age as my DD in front of me so he could ride with his cousin. He was so happy.

On the first MHP night I was dressed as Sleeping Beauty and went to PFF at around 11:45 ish. There were a few families in line, and we asked the CM who was there right now. She noticed my costume and said Aurora was leaving in a few min so I won't be able to catch her, but I'll be able to get some of the other princesses. I got in line anyways because I wanted to see Princess Tiana. When we were about 2 families from the front, a different CM motioned to me and said someone wanted to see me. DBF and I were the last people Aurora visited with before she left for the night. It was only two families, but that initial CM made MHP all the more better :)

I feel like such a dork but some of these sweet stories actually made me tear up! Thanks for the pixie dust! :wizard:

It was a nightmare I wouldn't wish on anyone. She was so sick. And I totally agree, that the CMs, and that kitchen manager in particular, deserve tons of good karma! They really are amazing!

Our family has the distinct "pleasure" of having had a sick kid on almost every Disney trip we have taken. So far we have been okay at DL, but it seems like every time we go to WDW, one (or all!) of us get sick..... we now know how to take the shuttle to urgent care, which pharmacy delivers, etc.... one time, when I was WAY pregnant, 1/2 our party got the stomach flu, me included. While it stinks to miss some vacation time to being sick, I always tell people that if you have to be sick you couldn't be sick at a better place than Disney b/c the staff is always SOOOOO awesome. They really go out of their way to make you comfortable and help you out during a very, very unfortunate time.

awww, that is beyond precious. and such a wonderful experience to share with your kids.

I have teared up several times as well and just love reading all the pixie dust magic. It doesn't matter the size or amount of pixie dust, it is just that it has helped make the day even better and more magical.

Wow, we have had so many pixie dust moments at Disneyland in the past 10 years that I can't think of where to start. One that comes to mind was a few years back when my ds was wanting to ride Casey Junior but it was down. Since they didnt' know when the ride would be back up, my DH waited with DS at the gate. The CM started chatting with my DS and he showed her how he could sing the entire Casey Junior song (I used to sing it to him at bedtime). She was so impressed and since the ride still wasn't up, she got another CM to stand by the gate and she personally walked DS to any ride that he wanted to go on without having to wait (he picked Dumbo). When my DH and DS got off of Dumbo, she was waiting right there to take him on something else. By that time, me and my DD had returned so my DS just thanked the CM (with a big hug) and we left Fantasyland. But it was such an awesome, and unexpected treat for him.

Another time my DD was going to the wishing well to make a birthday wish before we left for the night. Unfortunately, it was too close to fireworks time and they had already closed off the path. There was a CM working there and heard us telling DD that we couldn't go back there. The CM asked if she could help and we just explained that DD was going to make a birthday wish but we understood that it was closed off now. The CM said she couldn't let us back there but did not want DD to be disappointed so she pulled two trading pins out of her pocket and gave one to DD and one to DS. It was such a nice thing to do.

I could probably go on and on with moments like this. It is one of the things we love so much about Disney (those wonderful, unexpected moments). And they are defnitely alive and well at Disneyland.

I think one of our biggest was last year at the Halloween Party. Me, DH and DD were dressed as road crew workers (with Mickey Ears on our hats) and my DS was dressed as a traffic cone. He almost didnt' wear it because we were worried it would be too cumbersome. But he told us before we left that he wanted to wear it because his Dad and I put so much work into making it for him.

What we didn't expect was the attention that costume would get from the CMs. On our way in, one of the security guards saw us coming through the bag check and came and took him by the hand to escort him to the front gate (and give him security badge stickers). Then on main street, one of the firemen saw him and came over to talk to him and also gave him a fire badge sticker. Then the CMs in the hat store came out to see his costume because someone inside the store had commented on it. So many people (guests and CMs alike) took the time to comment on his costume.

But best of all was were we walking down Main street, a group of CMs in the middle of the street stopped us and talked to us for a bit. They were fussing over his costume and then asked him if he would like to be in the parade. His answer was "are you serious???" LOL. Since it was the first year the party was held in Disneyland, we had no idea how the parade would be handled. We figured it would be a lot of people selected to walk along the parade route. To our surprise, we were 4 of the 10 people selected to ride in the "Honorary Guests" car. In addition to that, all the characters came over to see DS in his costume before the parade began. While we were riding in the parade, DS was doing his wave (as instructed) and just beaming from ear to ear. It was an incredible pixie dust moment

Ah JetSkiGirl! You made me tear up again! Do you have pics of his costume? It sounds adorable :) (I understand if you don't want to share online tho :) )
