You know, DH and I were actually disappointed in this year's PftS. That is a long rant that *I* will not get into! LOL. But we both commented that there seemed to be MORE tables available than the last 2 years we attended. This was on Sept 29.
I have a DD8 and never considered bringing her, I just couldn't justify the price for someone who would not be drinking wine and basically only likes mac and cheese and chicken nuggets! Did your DD sample many items? I told my DH I cannot wait until I think she is ready to attend...even if it is before she is of drinking age, as long as she would try some of the food offerings, I would probably do it.
To the OP...I saw some folks really dressed up, which looks great. My DH wore a collared polo type shirt and khakis and I wore a casual, cotton dress and flat sandals. Hope this helps!
You know, we were told that they added tables this year but it still wasn't enough. People were wandering around like zombies looking for anyplace to put their plate down and eat. About halfway through, there were people seated around the perimeter of the stage......even while performances were taking place!
And we had a problem with people setting their dirty dishes onto our (stand up)table. One woman even licked her spoon clean, then sat it onto my sons plate! I wanted to bop her on the head.
My parents were specifically told by an event CM that the event was overbooked.....I don't understand how they can do that knowing there are not seats for everyone. It was crazy.
I didn't pay for my kids to attend, this was my parents idea of a great surprise for my family. I posted a while back about it.
DH and I were not thrilled. It is not something I would take kids to, even though we did see other children there (in t-shirts and shorts).
At least, I wouldn't take my 8 year old. I think the 14 year old truly enjoyed it and he tried enough foods that maybe it was worth it. But not DD. She literally ate one serving of wok seared beef and noodles and declared that she was full. I got her to try one bite of Chicken and mole sauce, she hated it. Then she had a few chocolate truffles and some cake. So in my mind, it was a total waste for her. They did both enjoy the hot teas.
OP, my husband wore a polo shirt and some dressier dark grey shorts with nice leather sandels. I was in khakis (I don't do dresses or skirts), nice black sandels and a sheer black lacy top with camisole. My mom wore a nice pink and white dress with cardigan, dad was in nice pants and a button up shirt.
We saw one person in a silver sequin backless mini-dress with plunging neckline, that was the most over the top thing we saw. Most people were in khakis and button ups or sundresses and such.
Some were just in tees and shorts, some in cocktail attire. It really ran the gamut.
