Any particular year that was the best at DLP?

I can only speak for my visits - didn't start visiting until 2005 so I'm a relative newcomer ;)

2005 was wonderful because we visited for the first time and it was WOW :earseek: we love this place  especially after being a bit worried after reading some of the anti-DLP reviews out there on the web

and 2005 again because we spent Christmas there - how magical is it waking up on Christmas Day in Disney with a child who believes :cloud9:

2007 was a great time because it was the 15th year and we experienced Candleabration and Halloween for the first time :thumbsup2

2011 was only a flying visit because of GCSEs and work but I celebrated a big birthday there with my family - couldn't think of a better place to be :cloud9:

Perhaps it's because we don't go very often that I don't pick fault (and yes, I really do feel for people visiting this year that they've been short-changed by the lack of shows and night-time parade) but I think a holiday is what you make it, we've also had lovely trips there in 2006, 2008 and 2012 and hope to have many more in the future.

1992 was fab. We had our very own Disney park, and it was so close to home (I lived in Paris at that time)
I was just back from Disneyworld and Disneyland California (1990 & 1991) and to be honest, OUR disneyland park had nothing to be ashamed of compared to its big brothers

92 to 95 were the best years. Disneyland park had to convince people.
remember that there was a very high and rampant hostility against Disneyland Park at that time.
For the record, on the day the park opened, activists detonated a bomb and destroyed an utility pylon outside of Disneyland park, severing 2 of the 3 main high voltage lines feeding current to the park. It was only through efforts of EDF (Electricité de France) that the park was able to proceed with it's opening and operations.

Some newspaper had headlines reading "Mickey go home"

and Disney really went to great lenghts to show the Mouse at its best. Shows, parades, characters, sideshows, merchandising (there were more than there is today ... today you find more "I love MK" merch in DLP than Disneyland Paris specific merchandise ... seriously ? ...)

end of 94 probably marks the beginning of the end. With the change from Eurodisneyland to Disneyland Paris, as well as the 95 opening of the shareholders club.
From that moment on, the management began to take strange turns and it was felt inside the park somehow.

It was still very enjoyable until 1999 and the beginning of the construction of Studios. But it was "obvious" that a lot of money was injected in Studios, leaving very little money to deal with the Disneyland Park

2000 marks the turning point (for me)
I often joke that it's the year they reprogrammed Indiana Jones to run backwards, and instead they reprogrammed the whole park to go in the wrong direction ...

The park lived on, and it was still a good park, but as a regular you could feel little bits of magic fleeting away and out of sight at each visit.

2008 was, in my opinion, when all hell broke loose, when P Gas took over (and s*** hit the fan, if you will)

I still have my Dream AP, don't misunderstand me, I still love the park, I've been a Dream AP holder for years. But I'm very nostalgic of the best years, those of the very start, and I'm very angry with what's going on in the parks now.

92-95 were definitely the best years. Just look at youtube videos from that Era, and compare ... (or don't do that or you may start to notice that today the parks is a sad empty shell ... and that's so depressing)
