I have started a paralegal certificate program (I already have a masters degree) and I am enjoying it so far. My goal is to be done when DD is ready to start 1st grade (she is 4yo now) and then work part-time or job share or something that is flexible.

Here are my questions: Do you like your job? What is your focus? litigation? probate? do you find there is flexibility in the profession? Did you bother to take the PACE exam? I understand it is more of a West Coast thing so I am not sure I need it in this area.

Any info about the profession would be greatly appreciated! TIA!!

60,000 DISers and no paralegals??? :(

well, here is one selfish bump to see if there is any response from the after work crowd.

*bump*

But let me add, when you become a Paralegal, PLEASE, PLEASE, be kind to the copy staff. I can't count how many times I've had paralegals come down to the copy center with huge jobs to copy and wanted them in an hour. IT DOESN'T WORK. But good luck.

I am a paralegal for a solo practioner in central NH. I love my job. I focus on litigation - tried corporate in the past and didn't like it, I also don't like Real estate or probate - so litigation for me or nothing! Working for such a small office makes things very flexible for me - I'm salary, so no timesheets. Also, no billable hour requirement for me in the small office (when at a larger firm there was a billable hour requirement).

Good Luck.
